Title: 2300 kt questions
Post by: geedub on December 18, 2013, 10:28:30 AM
Noob here. Hope this ends up where its supposed to...
I'm shooting 10 m pistol in a league vs. a bunch of $2000 pistol packers.
If I'm going to get competitive, I need practice, as opposed to shooting a club Izzy 46M cold once a week.
So I'm building a 2300 at Crosman Custom, but not quite sure what I'm doing-
Electing LW longer barrel and Williams sight.
Breech is available short or long. It appears the 2300 S uses long, T short (?)
I assume the selection will affect balance in hand, the "feel"
Based on photos at website, it appears longer barrel = longer breech (?)
Muzzle brake available in "silver" and "brass"
Not sure if these are anodized colors or aluminum vs. brass, and if it would make a difference in the balance.
Anybody have experience with this build / suggestions / comments?
Thanks
GW

If using open sights only, the short breech will save on unneeded weight. LW barrel is a good choice. Color choices on parts like the muzzle brake are personal preference. Weight and balance of a 2300 will not mimic an Izzy, but you can still use the gun to effectively develop a repeatable shooting routine that will be very helpful.

Get the custom wood grip option. They are miles better and more comfortable than the stock plastic grips. One thing you will notice after shooting the 2300 and picking up the Izzy is how dainty and thin the Crosman grips are. Once you get used to the hand-filling feel of a target grip, everything else feel inadequate.

I found the triggers on those Crosman guns to be terrible 1377/2300.  I can shoot much better groups with a Beeman P17 just because of the better trigger.  The only thing that holds the P17 back is the sight radius.

For the money spent, I'm not really impressed with the custom shop gun.  And I got it for the exact same reason as you.
