Title: Back Home!
Post by: Bicycleman on December 15, 2013, 09:10:39 PM
Hello all.  My Mrs. and I returned home today.  We had been in Charleston, West Virginia for the past couple of weeks taking care of one of the grandsons while the younger one (1 1/2 years old) was having surgery in Ohio at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  We arrived with snow on the ground; we left with snow on the ground; and it snowed several time while we were there.  My two wheel drive (rear drive) doesn't do icy roads.  To say that a different way ---> I don't do icy roads.  [Louisiana born and full time resident since.]  We were able to bring the 4 year old to school every day except one.  But the weekend was too snowy and icy for us to venture out.  We cleaned out my son's freezer before we were able to get to Krogers for restocking.

I had brought the Discovery to do some squirrel hunting with my son.  Well, that didn't happen because they were in Ohio an extra four days.  There was a little complication with the healing process.  The little one healed and was very nearly up to speed when we left yesterday.  Anyone of you out there in the medical field - Thank you for being you.

Glad to hear the little guy is ok. It's very stressful to deal with, especially when complications pop up. Snow on the other hand is miserable.  We're simply not made to deal with the stuff along the Gulf Coast. Glad you mad it back ok.

Thanks all for the kind words and good thoughts.

Dave, you are so right about "not made to deal with the stuff along the Gulf Coast."  So, to use an old saying, "I looked and didn't touch."

Blessings are all around us. I'm thankful that your grandson is better. I'm also thankful that we weren't blessed with a regular bunch of snow.

I can't imagine the sorrow and fear one faces with the knowledge a child of this age has to have surgery.

I do hope all turns out well.

Latest word from the West Virginia connection:  They should be arriving late Saturday - or maybe they will sleep over around Memphis and be in early Sunday afternoon.  The little guy, Ian, is back up to speed and they are confident in making the trip.  (Both my son and my daughter-in-law work in the medical field and are qualified to assess his healing.)  This will a great celebration of life this year.

Merry Christmas all and HUG YOUR CHILDREN every chance you get.
