I have been thinking about buying a Benjamin 392 for awhile but just hadn't because I didn't want to buy a Super Sear to fix the trigger. Last week I ran across this gun on Craigslist for $60 and decided to roll the dice and buy it. I'm so happy I waited because this gun was most likely never used and dry as a bone. There's a few scratches on the stock but other than that it's in new condition. It's a phase 2 gun built in 1999 and all it needed was some oil on the pivot points. The trigger on this gun really isn't that bad and it shoots great but any suggestions about how to make the trigger better will be appreciated. Is a Super Sear worth it with this model?
Has anyone had the Steroid modification from Mac 1 done on this model 392?

excellent find on craigslist

What's the secret with posting air guns on craigslist? I tried, and was flagged several times. I asked on their forum why I was singled out while there are lots of pellet guns posted! I was told by admin that they don't allow the posting of any air guns even after I pointed out that you can punch in "pellet guns/air guns in the first page or in sporting goods, and guess what pops up? AIR GUNS!

I think other people have had Tim's magic worked on this model. with the retro tootsie roll handle and extended lever Time will also work on the sear. :( Don't get the super sear it's made from aluminum with a steel roll pin. I just don't think it's a safe design. :( IMO

I don't know why Craigslist flags some post? The guy I bought my vintage Benjamin 150 pellet pistol from had his post yanked. His post was simple and clearly was for air guns not powder burners. He told me he never got a good explanation from them. Regardless of what rules they have Craigslist is a great place to shop for vintage and modern pellet and BB guns.

Thanks for the information. The trigger on this rifle is pretty good as it is. Does it help at all to clean up and polish the existing sear? The 342 I have cannot have Tim's steroid modification and I want to keep my Sheridan Blue Streak stock so this rifle being a new version is perfect. I don't think I want a tootsie roll forearm. There's got to be another option? I guess I need to look at some pictures or ask Tim.

Your gonna need to go to MAC1 anyway. The SECRETE SAUSE is the best and its thee only place to get it! ::) ::)

Hi CW,
I need to order some. I looked at the Mac 1 site and the price seems reasonable considering how much you get.

Congrats on an excellent find. Craigslist tends to be tricky as far as what can and cannot be listed. I do see pellet guns listed semi-frequently on CL.
-
In the CL restrictions it says no airguns, it depends on the area on how wuick if at all if its flagged or not, I've got a few on craigslist
-
I think here in Ca. CL views air rifles as assault rifles capable of mass murdering scores of people. I think I found a way to get around it, but won't know for sure until/if things sell.

Regrind the angle on the sear so the part that engages the hammer isn't so steep. Like this:

Best bang for the buck as far as the trigger is concerned. Takes a little weight off, and makes it smoother. Doesn't do much for the creep though.

Here in the area I live in there's probably 50 bb or pellet guns available on Craigslist any given day. There's a lot more than that if air soft stuff is included. I guess they do pull post because it happened to the guy I mentioned but there isn't any consistency to it. It may come down to people complaining. Most folks here could care less but I can see it being an issue in California.

I may have to buy another sear and experiment with it. Thanks for the tip.
