For the past day I've been trying not to hit the "order" button on the .177 NPSS that Airgunsdaily is selling for $209 (224 w/shipping) and I was really, really proud of myself for being strong and not hitting the button, but my strength just flew out the window.
One of our members posted in the "Bargain Gate" that sportsmansguide.com is selling the .177 cal Crosman Nitro Venom for $143 with free shipping. I quickly did the math, well not really quickly since math isn't my forte, and I realized I would be getting the nitro piston .177 rifle I want and saving $81 bucks :)
My wife is going to go "jurassic" on me but I don't care cause I got a new rifle on the way :)
Of course it won't hurt if you guys say a prayer for me tonight that my wife doesn't injure me to bad.

:D We will Jeff! Congrats! (I hope ;) )

We'll pray for ya... as long as she doesn't take it out on us too ! ;D
Congrats on the new shooter coming !

The gain will be worth the pain! ;D

I hope so :)
I've had a G1-Extreme for quite some time and I love the rifle so I'm looking forward to having it with the nitro piston. I've always loved the synthetic stock on my G1 so I already know this ones going to be comfortable :)
I read the reviews from the other members who have the venom and they all seemed pleased so I'm really psyched about getting this. Should make a nice small game rifle.

For that price I would get one too, but Sportsmansguide won't ship AG's to California, for whatever reason. Everyone else ships them here.
-
I couldn't pass it up for the price. I just got done ordering a new scope and mounts so I'll be all set to slap them on when the rifle arrives.
I know what you mean. I have the same problem with cheaperthandirt.com. They won't ship any air guns to NY. I called them one time and discussed it and gave them the names of all the other vendors that will ship to me but they wouldn't budge. Oh well, can't blame companies for being concerned about liability I guess.

Jeff is in troouuble....hee hee

Bob, that's putting it lightly !! If I simply vanish from the forum and don't return you'll know what became of me.

...you best not jeopardize that new carbon wrapped 88 cubic footer!
What Rico said....I saw on the site, they don't ship to CA, I was hoping it meants CANADA, not Cali. Anyone know for sure?
-
i think 2 counties (LA and SF) dont allow airguns and they are too lazy to check your zip code..... i hate lazy people especially when they have the only gun in stock out of 10 different vendors

Jeff,
Congts on the new shooter. I'm sure your gonna be happy with the purchase of the "personal Christmas gift". I paid about $50 more for mine a few months back but really do like it. It's sweet right out of the box. Consider getting a gas ram stabilizer kit from Gene for the gun in the near future, got one for mine but the time of year and the wife have prevented me from working on personal projects. Tim

Congratulations Jeff.... I am proud of you...:)

Thanks guys :) I can't wait to get it, install the new scope and take her out hunting :)

I purchased the Nitro Venom several months ago. It came with a 4x Centerpoint scope that did not seem very good. It was blurry and I could not shoot accurately with it at my normal short (10 yd) distance.
I discovered that you can adjust the parallax and this made the scope very usable. First adjust the rear bell so that the reticle is sharply defined for your eye. Then unscrew and remove the ring on the front bell. This allows you to turn in and out the front lens. Adjust the lens so the target appears very sharp. Place the scope down on something so that you can still see the target without holding or jiggling the scope. Now move your head side to side looking through the scope. The reticle should not move on the target. Make minor adjustments to the front lens until the reticle does not move. Replace the front bell.
The scope will now be sharp and accurate at this distance.

I already ordered a different scope for it but I do appreciate the info.
I'll probably use the 4x32 that the rifle comes with on one of my chinese "yard guns" :)

Well Jeff looks like baloney sandwiches through christmas. hope the wife dosen't tell you to take a bite out of that new ag LOL!!!!Thanks David

David, I've been making it a point to be VERY, VERY nice to her since ordering all this stuff :) I'll see if it pays off when the package arrives....
My only saving grace may be in the fact that today, while I was driving her from one store to another so she could shop, she told me to go online and order myself a bunch of air gun stuff as "stocking stuffer" gifts for myself. I'm hanging my laurels on that term "stocking stuffer". A very ambiguous term if you ask me :) I think a new rifle qualifies as a "stocking stuffer",, don't you ?? :) I've got a really large stocking with my name on it to hang on the mantle over the fireplace, my wife knitted it for me years ago. I can very easily manage to cram most of that new rifle into that stocking and if I pound a large enough nail deep enough into that mantle I think I can get that stocking to hold up that new rifle no problem :)

Jeff,
How about just painting one of your gun cases candy stripe red and green ? ;D

I saw the GRT-III trigger is available for the Titan Nitro, the specs are pretty much the same; does anyone know if it will work in this gun? (I couldn't resist pulling the trigger and buying one from Sportsman's Guide as a Christmas present for myself, looking forward to getting it in on Monday!)

It's stories like that that have kept me single my entire 57 years! ;D
