Once you get the parts and have ot apart... spend some time polishing up parts that ride against other parts... You will be amazed at how smooth it gets. These guns are NOT produced with smoothness in mind, they use pressed parts and many rough edges are found.
When I did my 1377 the hammer was so rough, I polished it and then the tube where it rides and felt a NIGHT AND DAY difference!
One thing, you not trying to remove metal here, your smoothing parts. Yes the roughness and burrs will be removed, but overall you don't want to change dimensions on parts is whet I mean.
I used Flitz polish and a dremil felt wheel. ;D ;D

Jorge,
Just for clarity,...
when you get the flat top piston, you will also need a flat top valve.
You can cut your own valve flat or buy one already done.

Hi There :D
WHAT CW SAID ! that will make a big difference, you will like it even more. Polish all the surfaces that move on each other and lube them lightly. ;D ;D ;D

don't neglect to smooth out inside the compression tube, especiallyaround the slot for the pump arm linkage. this will help prevent damaged seals on your piston.

Before I get crazy on it, what's the recommended way to do this? Decreasing grit size on sandpaper over a padded dowel, and polish the cut edges? 600 grit spun like a poor-mans chamber job (like for a springer)? I don't want to start because I'm scared that I'll mess something up, but because I'll probably make it MUCH more complicated than it needs to be. Haha.

Hi There :D
You don't need a dremel do this by hand fine abrasive cloth on a padded dowel and go easy it doesn't take much time and this way you can't over do, you just want to get rid of the sharp edges and burs Be sure to clean the inside smooth and clean are awesome ;D ;D

Enjoy. I went to DICKS on 9/14 to look for a telescope but saw the "DOOMS Day Bug Out Kit" and had to have it. A week later I ordered the long steel breech and a .22cal 24" barrel. Today,2000 pellets later, I will order the 2400KT with a 18" barrel from there custom shop. ;)

Just be super careful when taking stuff out to polish. That dern safety ball will want to play hide and no seek with you. I bought a set of small files from wally world fairly cheap. Went over the trigger and sear just enough to smooth it out, then finished the job with some 600 grit sand paper. Not quite a mirror, but I like it.
