you should pull off the barrel shroud and look at the tip of the barrel and run a q-tip across the crown if the q-tip catches you could use a re-crown should help your groups tighten up also

I've found that re-crowning has generally improved groups (with certain pellets).

I'm working on a barrel currently and haven't gotten it to where I want it yet.  Each time I work on it I run a pellet test and groups change.  Some better, some worse, work on the crown a little, test again and different ones are better and different ones are worse.

I've done it well and I've done it badly.

You have to go slow but if you're careful, it can definitely help.
