It was another great day at Heavens Ranch. This is such a great course
with flats, uphills, downhill into gullies and shade. Usually breezy and yesterday we had mild winds of 0-3 mph.

We had some changes in target composition with a 1/4" kz at 12 yds and our 1.75 bell at 55 (some said 56) down in a gully where the tricky winds play.

As usual it was a great day with great people. LD came out to play in open after a few years layoff (maybe longer). I am sure his game will come
back as he gets dialed in again. Scott Hull used his hunter class Marauder
to play in the recently rejected "sporter" class. No bipod. No prone. He sat in the pretzel position with no straps for the first time and shot a great score anyway. Who says you can't do this with a reasonably priced gun and inexpensive 12x scope.

Jim Z shot a great match. I think it might have been a personal best. Rick Rogers shot a personal best as well. 2 years ago that would have been a win.
The bar has been raised here in So Cal. Yours truly had a "clean" going for the first 42 shots and then a miss on an easy uphill 1.75kz at 46 yds. Not sure if it was me or a flyer but I would have given my kingdom for a pellet width. It is what it is. my score was my personal best and the bad part about that is that I can never get another personal best unless I clean the course. that might take a while. At 68 I hope my eyes, knees, back, hold up that long.

My friend Art sent me a single picture of me shooting from pretzel position. A first for me in a rifle match.

I removed the bipod from my Marauder before the start of the match and left it in the car so I would not be tempted to use it.

I plan on shooting the next match the same way but using my 11.5fpe piston gun. So <12fpe rifle, 12x scope, no support aids. The cool thing about shooting that way is that it is legal in any Division (Hunter, Open, WFTF).
