Title: 2289 .177 conversion - Pricing, if you want to order from Crosman
Post by: drewciferpike on November 06, 2013, 01:37:55 PM
In case anyone wants to dive in and convert their 2289 (currently the "Bugout" kit, previously the "Backpacker") to .177, here's the current direct-from-Crosman pricing, as of 11-6-13 (I literally completed my order less than three minutes ago):

--> .177 Steel Breech Kit - part number "1377SBPK"
--> .177 Discovery barrel (orig. 760 barrel is "cleaner", without extra machining marks, but is obsolete and not in stock, so this is the only choice from Crosman) - part number "1760SE-001"
--> one tube of Pellgun oil... (I can't find it anywhere, locally, so I might as well just have them toss it in... haha)

The "parts" are in one order, the barrel in another. Totals were, respectively: $47.28 and $19.07, for a total of $66.35 (that includes shipping).

I should have the steel breech kit and oil in 3-5 days. The barrel should be 2-3 weeks.

NOTES:
1. If you want a .177 barrel without extra machining marks, you can order one from the vendors listed in the GTA mall. I wanted to order everything with one call and be done with it, so I took the lazy way out. I know that if I had ordered a barrel from a vendor, the crown and whatnot would be good to go. As it stands, I'll be doing that work, myself.
2. I might not keep the barrel at 24". If it feels like I'm waving around a fly rod, I'll chop and crown at 18".
3. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with a "standard" TKO, or if I'll try and do a partial shroud to keep length down.

Once I get a chance to play with the carbine in its "new form", I'll see what I need to do as far as mods. At a minimum, I know I'll probe the bolt and follow the Nervoustrigger mods to the piston.
