bought it last night and have a couple scoping questions. it has the weaver rail that runs across the top of the receiver and i was wondering what height rings for a 40mm or 44mm scope bell? i want it as close as i can get it. and question #2 is....is the NP "harsher" on a scope then a spring? I've heard mixed answers as far as this goes.....any help would be great.....cheers Bart ;D

Bart,
Very smart move on your part having Ed go over the gun first.
The Trails come with a 40mm CenterPoint scope, so the medium height rings that come with it should be fine.
The scope mount section of Leaper's website lists ring heights for scope mm and I seem to remember they say the medium rings are good up to 45 mm scopes
Enjoy.
Paul.

Bart,
I recently put a Sightron on my Trail, but I just measured the gap between the largest diameter of the front bell and the top of the receiver/compression tube. It's 1/4 inch.
The 40 mm CenterPoint that came with the gun is 1/16 inch less diameter than the Sightron, so if you use the CenterPoint you should have a whisker over 1/4 gap with the factory supplied Weaver style rings. I've looked, and I can't find anything about the actual height difference between low and medium weaver rings.

yeah i dont think it comes with the scope, that's why i was asking. the price for it fully tuned and shipped was almost to good to be true! ;D hehe...so i didn't ask if it came with the scope. i'm already getting a smokin' deal on it and didn't want to ask...truth be known i woulda paid even more for it ;). shadow does awesome work and i believe gene has been under the hood of this shooter as well....hence me not asking shadow about the scope. i feel like i all ready got a great deal ..i bought it in 7min's and had people PMing me after wanting it...lol this is my first NP, we will see how it goes :o but i know it'll be a keeper ;) and just ordered the tuna trigger as well.....bart

No scope but the two piece scope rings that came with her when I got here will be along for the ride to you bro. Gene did all the work on this NP when it got into my hand's and all I did was take some critters with her and wipe her down at the hunt's end. ;) Ed

thanks again ed! your MO is in the mail as we speak! and thanks for the rings! all the weavers rings i have around are 30mm and my 30mm scopes are spoken for....so this way I'll mount a 1" scope on her.....how about the NP? is it "harder" on a springer rated scope then a normal spring? more-less-or equal??? and like i said earlier this was a smoking' GTA deal and i really appreciated it! bart

I've never had any problems with it eating scopes bro and I have springers with more recoil then the NP. Ed

Ahhhh, that one. Yeah, after being in those hands, I can see why the rush to get it. Definitely a keeper !!!!

Bart, it looks as if Ed just put some of his magic dust on it by taking some critters with it.
Not to mention, Gene having gone through it should have put some of his own magic dust on the inside.

i couldn't agree more!!! ;D like i said earlier I've never even shot a NP before so this is all the more exiting for me! gene tuned, shadow hunted,NP in .22! :o the hair on my neck is standing up! LOL and i ordered a grt3 trigger too! my wife told me she didn't know what to get me for Christmas...i laughed and told her "don't worry about it, buy yourself something nice." so needless to say I AM PUMPED!!!! Congrats Bart. You will enjoy shooting the NP. It's a fun AG to shoot

I know how you feel about owning a gun massaged by a couple master level tuners. I just find it hard to understand how it didn't get a GRT-III yet? It will be the icing on the cake once installed! Good luck and congratulations!
