Title: A couple months ago I was thinking of looking for a Crosman 101...
Post by: rangerfredbob on October 27, 2013, 05:03:57 AM
Now I have 3 101's and a 102! Was parusing Craigslist the other day for pellet guns, saw a local ad that said they had a few random guns, looked through the pictures and saw a 101! read the text and they only wanted $30, the only thing else in the lot was a Daisy model 26 which sounded interesting and worth $30, so for $60 I picked up these this morning:

The 101 seems to be fully functional and complete, small crack on the pump arm that I'll glue back together before it gets worse... pumps up and seems to hold good pressure. The 26 makes noise and seems to cycle, but didn't get a chance in the daylight to play with it, will try tomorrow morning before I head out hunting for the day.

One of my previously acquired 101's was complete but had a bad pump cup, so I made an O ring piston cap yesterday, works better now but still needs some tweaks and deburring, the other 101 is missing the butt stock (was plastic and broken off) and needs a reseal but will be functional, the 102 needs a serous cleaning (corroded pellets still in the tube) and some replacement parts made (pellet loading port cover is broken, pivot pin is missing) but will be functional too.

Anyway, I'm a fan of these older guns, including my recently acquired Crosman 140, 1400, 180, Benjamin 312, and Sheridan Blue Streak...

Good deal!  My older brother had a 101 that I used occasionally when I was a kid.  I remember it being very hard to cock, but it packed a punch.

You lucky dog. Wish I could find deals like that on my local Craigslist. The only airguns I see are overpriced guns bought at Walmart. I'd love to find a 101 that needs some TLC. I resealed one for a friend and fell in love with it.

There's my collection of these vintage pumpers, top is the 102, bottom 3 are 101's, center two are identical bottom one is VERY different, but obviously very similar at the same time...

The 102 has a brass barrel and pump tube, doesn't pump air... needs cleaned up a lot.

The center 101's are both functional, one has more internal wear than the other (the one that looks the best is more worn, go figure, inside of pump tube needs some attention) Both of these have steel barrels and pump tubes

The bottom 101, I'm not sure what it is really, the pellet loading port on top is way different than the other two, the pump arm is plastic, so was the broken piece of rear stock that I took off... Anyone have any ideas on vintage on this guy? This has a steel barrel and pump tube also.

TooJung, I thought the same thing, I've been searching craigslist for over a year for anything cool, then a couple months ago I found that lot of vintage guns, then this came up, don't know what's going on... :)

The bottom gun is not a Crosman at all but an Apache, quite a rarity.  Interesting info here: http://www.cinedux.com/apache-airguns.php (http://www.cinedux.com/apache-airguns.php)

Thanks, interesting read! I'll have to see if I can get it working, and get my hands on some #4 buck shot...
