Title: Crosman Titan GP Owners: What pellets does your gun like best?
Post by: HCAirgunner on October 25, 2013, 10:56:08 AM
...Mine seems to be doing OK with 14.2 Grain RWS Super H Point pellets (.22 caliber) but I haven't experimented with enough of a variety yet to have any firm opinions one way or the other...

What have you guys discovered? Any favorites?

Mine seems to really like the CPHP's and CPL's (brown box) as well as Beeman FTS.   That being said I usually feed it the CPHP's because they shoot as good as the other 2 and they're much cheaper  :)

I've never been a real fan of true hollow point pellets for hunting, which is what 99% of my shooting is, but I will say that I have several guns that do in fact shoot the SHP's very well so while I don't shoot them much I do have a good supply of them on my pellet shelf as they are one of the better hollow points in my opinion.  They do work really well on rabbit   :)

I'll believe anything, at least, believe it enough to try it for myself.

That's the purpose of this thread, every pellet you guys mention, I intend to buy and test :D

I found H&N FTT 5.54mm 14.66gr to work best. AirArms 16gr domes work well, as do RWS SHP.
CPHP are ok, but not great.
JSB Exact pellets did not perform well in my Titan, but great in other A/Gs

My Titan GP like to eat the cost effective CPHP they shoot really well in my gun.

Mine likes H&N the best -  Sport in 13.73g with 5.50mm head, and Field Target Trophy in 14.66g with 5.53mm head.

Christopher, in my limited experience I find that two airguns of the same make and model may have two completely different favorites.  Looking at the responses to your original request that appears to be a common thing.  By all means, find your gun's favorite. You could try a sampler pack or end up buying a BUNCH of pellets.  I wouldn't even worry much about a favorite before the gun is broken in.  Good luck on you quest.

My Titan GP likes anything I throw down the barrel. I can even get quarter sized groups with daisy pellets!

You are absolutely correct; however, the reason I am asking is because a) I don't have a wide variety of pellets to choose from at the moment (RWS Super H, CPHP, RWS Hobby, and Benj Discovery) and b) I don't mind buying a bunch of pellets to experiment with, but I figure if you guys give me a list of your guns' favorites, that will give me kind of an idea of where to begin.

The way I see it, you can never have enough pellets. (Same goes for bullets.) So even if the Titan doesn't "love" a particular pellet, I still at least have something to shoot in the lean times. Plus, as my collection of different guns grows, I can use the pellets in those other guns as well, on the principle that what one gun "hates," another gun might "love."

Does that make sense? :D

By the way, I just got a "new to me" circa 1970 Benjamin 342. I am going to try some different types of pellets with it, as well.
