Title: Bonnie & Clyde nutters taken by a viper!
Post by: dk1677 on October 23, 2013, 12:56:59 PM
I thought some activity was going on by the pine tree/ butternut area so I thought I would take the express out with some CPHP's and give it a chance to get a work out. (Get some close in shots) First thing a nutter runs down the apple tree and takes off ( never saw him as most of the leaves are still on) I decided not to pursue him as he was on alert. I continued on the the area of activity and saw a tail near a bush I had the Gamo ready and as its a smooth bore I had to get in close. I got to less than ten yrds and could get a bead on Bonnie's head ( nutter at the bottom) and let the CPHP go , she went right down and was doing the dance as I reloaded in case I needed a follow up when Clyde comes down the pine with a nut and just sits there munching, He seemed completely oblivious to what was going on, staying still and have only about a 20ft shot I let Clyde have a CPHP  in the back of his head. A short dance and he was history  ;)                                                                                                                                                                                     (http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb138/dk1677/N27-28231013_zpse556fa50.jpg) (http://s210.photobucket.com/user/dk1677/media/N27-28231013_zpse556fa50.jpg.html)

Dave, do you have a spare bedroom?  I'll supply the pellets bro!!  Great shooting and with a smoothbore.  Your next step is a slingshot.  LOL!

Funny how they just continue to feed in a situation like that where you would expect them to spook away yet they continue feeding as if nothing happened. That one brit guy's youtube videos often show nutters feeding around numerous previously killed nutters while standing in their blood even. They actually attack the dying squirrels instead of running away.

Yea I could understand that Gil if food was in short supply. These were a young pair, the one that ran sits in a tree ( off my land) just before sunset and sticks its tongue out at me  ;) ( his day will come)

Oh yes it will indeed. And sweet will that day be as you stand triumphant over him as he takes his last breath.
