Title: Yes, it's true, new barrels from Marmot_Militia
Post by: Marmot_Militia on October 21, 2013, 03:17:45 PM
Guys,

As you may know, I had issues with the .470" diameter barrels from LW. The fact that I had to refund six of 13 customers out of my pocket because the barrels were not accurate was enough to persuade me to find a better supplier. I maintain a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all my parts, if it is not up to your standards, you get your money back. I have offered these barrels to customers who have been waiting a long time to get their barrel. Believe me, it has been a difficult summer. It bothers me deeply when orders go unfilled for a long time. I'm doing my best to get caught up, and turning away work to do so.

Mike Kobel from Citrus Airguns got me in contact with Mike Sayers of TJ's Gateway Enterprises of Alexandria, KY, about 2 hours from me. With input from both Mikes we started down the road to making the finest .22cal airgun barrels in .5" dia.

After a long discussion about barrels I contracted him to grind me a mandrel for his hammer forge so I could test the accuracy. After three mandrels of different land/groove/twistrate we hit the nail on the head.

I am proud to be offering these new barrels in 20" and 24" for the M-rod, and 12" for the P-rod. Custom lengths will have to wait until I get caught up.

These barrels are machined to be drop-in replacements for the .22cal M-rod and P-rod. You will use the front air stripper and rear shroud mount. No other calibers are available.

The barrels were designed to shoot the JSB pellets, and I have had no trouble getting these barrels to shoot the 13.4 up to the 18.1 with exceptional accuracy. They shoot the Crosman Premier Hollowpoints, OK, but don't recommend them. I have not tested other pellets as the JSB are my go-to projectiles.

The price is the same as for the LW barrels $185 for the M-rod, $140 for the P-rod.

I will still offer the LW barrels in .630 diameter, but not in .470"

These barrels will be on my webstore shortly.

I sincerely appreciate all my friends in the airgun community who have been patient with me. I really am doing the best I can to get the orders filled in a timely manner.

Regards,
Jim

Hi Jim.

Mike had told me about a new barrel he designed that had a 208-214 bore with a 19.5 to 1 twist with 5 lands and grooves.  He said it was very accurate even at various cut lengths (but did not mention it only liked JSB pellets).  I was waiting for one of these new barrels for my 22 M-rod and 22 P-rod.  Is this that same barrel?  Is Mike going to offer these barrels too?

Thanks!

Ray

Sounds brilliant Jim. Please tell me that these are getting done in the usual Chrome-Moly steel the PB guys get...:) This would be quite preferable to the softer, typical AG steel. Looks like I may have to get one of these...
cheers,
Douglas

My .470, 20 cal shoots like I put the muzzle next to the target...couldn't bee happier

Been a few years, haven't bought any LW barrels recently.  Has me wondering, why one diameter has a problem and not the other?

Thanks for chiming in Jim with answers and I am sorry you took a hit on bad barrels.

As to the partial refund you offered me, thank you..but you do not need to worry about it anymore. I am sure I will be happy with what you send and I thank you for not passing the problems on to me/us.

Looking forward to receiving it!!!

You may have missed it, but he said the prices would be the same as they were for the respective LW barrels which he used to offer.

The price is the same as for the LW barrels $185 for the M-rod, $140 for the P-rod.

I might as well ask while the questions are coming, what is the approximate wait time to get one of these barrels for M-rod? for P-rod?

Yes Ray, however in the other thread I started, I mentioned he offered me a reduced price for the long wait and not having what I ordered.

After hearing what he has been through and that the price is the same, I am happy with the current price is all..  ;)
