Air Raid on Pearl Harbor

On December 7, 1941, Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, killing more than 2,300 Americans. The U.S.S. Arizona was completely destroyed and the U.S.S. Oklahoma capsized. A total of twelve ships sank or were beached in the attack and nine additional vessels were damaged. More than 160 aircraft were destroyed and more than 150 others damaged.

A hurried dispatch from the ranking United States naval officer in Pearl Harbor, Commander in Chief Pacific, to all major navy commands and fleet units provided the first official word of the attack at the ill-prepared Pearl Harbor base. It said simply: AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR X THIS IS NOT DRILL.

I'm always saddened by the memory of this day, but our immediate response to the attack makes me proud of all those who rose to the call and further makes me proud to be an American. I just wish we had a bit more of that spunk in recent times. Every time we inadvertently hurt or kill a civilian in the mid-east, the world screams; perhaps there have been a few hundred, but  we've lost 3,000 civilians, and we hear weekly of our soldiers there being killed as well. After all, they are not aggressors but are there to protect us from additional future harm. In reality, they too are collateral casualties.

Yes,

This day should be remembered forever in infamy !!!!!! December 7, 1941

But how few Americans remember it today ? How few "new papers, radio broadcasts or television stations" will broadcast this, the anniversary of the day that Japan declared WAR on the United States of America with a deadly sneak attack on our troops and ships stationed in Pearl Harbor Hawaii ?

Remember those that died and were wounded on that Sunday afternoon, December 7, 1941 !!!!!

2402 American Serviceman Murdered, 1247 Wounded Serviceman and 57 Civilians Murdered in this sneak attack by Japan :(

Remember there sacrifice forever !!!!!!

It will always be remembered in some way....

I just wish people would have rallied like they did back then.  We sure could have used that kind of mentality today.

I believe that most Americans will always Stand Tall when threatened with attack.

It's hard to pick up ones life to travel thousands of miles to defend corrupt governments in foreign lands.

But when 9-11-2001 came, many young Americans stood Tall, and went to destroy the enemies of America. But now were back being police in a foreign land where we are the only ones playing by some stupid rules. Nothing was learned from Vietnam, if you intend on fighting a war, do it, don't play traffic cop !

The only reason that I can imagine ignoring the massive corruption in Afghanistan, is if our government is as corrupt as they are ! If not, they would put an end to the corruption !

Genghis Khan was my favorite General, and did he know how to fight a war :)

This day saddens me, as does August 6th & 9th of 1945.

Bless all that have served, and all that continue to serve.
