I am converting my 2240 to a 1740. I am using a steel breech and I am finding that pellets hang up on the front breech screw. I did not have the problem with 22 caliber pellets, so it has to be the smaller size of the 177 pellet catching on the inlet of the screw. Anyone have a solution that works for this? I was thinking of using Elmer's glue as a temporary filler since I will need access to the breech screw for possible later mods or repairs.

Most guys use a black crayon and a lighter to melt a few drops of wax into the hole. Don't over do it, just enough to fill the hole, then close the bolt before the wax hardens. Use a Q-tip to clean up any excess. When you need to get at the screw in the future, just push your hex wrench or screwdriver through the wax.
I wouldn't use Elmer's Glue. It's water based, and may cause rust or corrosion, even though the breech is blued.

I've read of some guys melting crayon wax in. I don't seem to have a problem with mine.
Lol .... beat me to it

Thanks. Seems like I heard about wax before, but assumed they meant candle wax. Sounds easy enough with a crayon.

I just ordered some black "sealing wax" on ebay. $3.00 delivered. I heard that sealing wax was harder and would last better than a crayon. Will let you know how it works out.
