Title: 22xx Valve Question
Post by: FelixK4 on October 04, 2013, 10:48:57 PM
Hi, So before I ask my question let me list my 22xx mods currently installed. Steel breech, 14.5" barrel, modified stock valve with light spring and half threads cut off, and a 16coil heavy marauder  hammer spring. I'm wondering what can be done to further increase FPS besides a HiPac and "Boss" Valve? I'm planning on getting both but, is there a good valve spring, hammer, and hammer spring that will "max out" the 2240 on FPS w/ a 14.5" barrel? I'm looking for 10-15shots at 12fpe+

i'm not sure you can get the most out of co2 with a 14" barrel. that's not to say  you shouldn't, or that it isn't worth it, i'm going to use a 12" on a boss valved pistol. that said you can open and angle the port. typically though to get the numbers you want you'd need a longer barrel and/ or a boss valve. 2 vendors..not here..have told me they can produce a valve with 20% more power than the boss valve, however they never actually had them when i offered to buy 4 of them. niether offered to make them either. beware of guys selling dreams instead of products.

the boss valve is getting me 15-20 fpe on a 2540 with a 20" barrel. i think you can get what you want with that barrel , but your going to need that valve, or figure out how to produce a similar. if you actually find a better valve than the boss please contact me.

peace
kj

I am using an 18" barrel on my 2250. Seems to work well. I have no chrony so I cannot tell you anything about velocities. I have yet to test for accuracy. I have been too busy to spend any serious time shooting. I read on another thread that 18" was pretty close to optimal for CO2, so I went with it.

I just put together a 2240 with a 14.5 and a Boss valve, extended probe, and I opened and polished the transfer port up a bit..  I put in a heavy spring but was getting horrible shot count so I went back to a stock spring with a spring guide waste of co2 I think.   It was raining all day so I did not get a chance to chrony it yet.  I'm not looking for a hunting gun, just a nice plinker for indoors this winter.   I was getting a sold 18-19 shots with a .75 inch group at 30 yards with a red dot mounted.  I have been using the Lealand 12g cartridges and JSB 13g RS pellets. Its my first 22xx build and Im having a blast with it.  If I was not saving up for a TX200 I'd plop down the money for a Crosmods breach and shroud.  Oh ya and my new TKO on it is very nice.
