i used what i had laying around..
36" piece of .065 edge trimmer string (twisted, not smooth)
18" piece of twisted kevlar string (nylon carpenter's string works ok too but is thicker)
9" piece of 1/8" heat shrink tubing.
heat gun
gas flame lighter
using a lighter melt one end of the edge trimmer string just a little.
tie a knot in each end of the kevlar prior to cutting it so it doesn't unravel. keep the knots on the ends of the string.
fold the kevlar string in half so the knotted ends don't touch. leave about 3/4" between them.
feed the knotted ends up one end of the tubing keeping the two strings together so the knot distance is maintained.
leave a 3/4" to 1" (your choice) loop sticking out of the end of the tube.
slide the edge trimmer string (non-melted end first) up the tube from the loop end. you may have to wiggle and massage the tube when the end gets to the knots. push it up till it protrudes from the tubing.
pull the edge trimmer string up till the other end is about 1/8" inside the tube where the loop is.
turn on your heat gun and starting with the loop end, heat the tubing till it shrinks around the strings. move up the tubing, twirling the tubing slowly so the heat is distributed. you'll see the string knots slightly protruding inside the tube.
after shrinking, hold the non-tube end and twirl the cleaning cord to cool it.
use a lighter to melt the end of the edge cleaner string.
ta-da.
to use, feed the plain edge trimmer string into the breech of the gun and feed it out the end of the barrel. if you have a shroud, insert a soda straw so the string can find a way out.
feed the string till only a couple of inches are left and put a barrel cleaning pad into the loop and fold it over. pull gently on the cord to start to engage the cleaning pad into the breech. pull gently till the pad clears the muzzle.

Creative, I have a thick fishing line that I tie a perfection loop on one end and use it pull cleaning patches through the barrel, but I like your way better.

Pretty cool.
