Title: Another scope inquiry
Post by: cwlongshot on October 04, 2013, 07:44:09 PM
Hello guys!

I have been working ALLOT!!  But I have also trying to shoot some of these rats without a lot of success... I pulled out the RWS 34 again and was amazed how much better the CP scope was for light gathering than the 25 year old Tasco I have on my 1377 carbine...  SO Its time to spend a few hard earned OT dollars on new optics...

My criteria:

1) SHORT
2) 2-7x or 3x9 (higher OK but needs to be a SHORT SCOPE)
3) SHORT...
4) A/O
5) Under 100$ (less better)
6) I would like a mil dot reticule but its NOT make or break item

Weight not a issue

My shots are 10-15 yards mostly at night or in the shadows.

I have read a lot about the Bug Buster spec the 3x9A/O. But I also read the reticule is bold/thick. Its the size I want and the price is there. I have a 4x on there now but as I say its old and its FOV sux. ;)

Whats your suggestions and what have you used?

OOh yea, Air gun scope NOT required its a pumper. ::)

I have a Current Gen 3-9 Bug buster on my P-Rod I use for vermin that raid my garden at night.  Its not a bad scope for the money at all.  You do not even notice the weight and size of it.  Kinda like a good pair of shoes.  the X-hairs are kinda thick but it never bothered me to much.  One thing is that at night the Lighted x-hairs even on lowest setting drown out the scope.  I fixed this by mounting a surefire 325 lumen flashlight under my P-Rod.  It really makes beady little vermin eyes glow and makes for great aim point.  it kinda fits all of your needs.

Bug Buster sounds like your best bet. There are a lot of scopes in that criteria but not a lot of them are compact. The Bug Buster is probably the best value if you're going compact.

I put one of the new 3-9xAO Bug Busters on my 2300kt and it feels perfect. The reticle is not thick. I have zero concerns with it and highly recommend it for a light, short ratting scope. Probably dropped about 35 of them last night!

I keep it on 5x and target acquisition is quick. I'm reposting this pic (as a link) as it shows the size in relation to the pistol platform

CW! ;D Where you been hiding, buddy?

I have a couple UTG SWAT 3-12x44s on my Shadow Venom and my 2250. A bit over your budget, but only by $10. I love them! Nice crisp crosshairs, compact and rugged build, and quite clear.

Hello,

I have been BUSY!!!  ;D ;D

That's a GREAT PICTURE Wahoo!!!!  QUITE a ''haul"!!

This is my quarry as well... RATS!! They are tough critters!! The current scope makes things harder... I am hitting them, I KNOW that just not where I like... On paper its good I can hit a pencil eraser every time, but many of my shots are thru the chicken pen wire and I think I may be hitting the fencing a little.

When I picked up the CP scope I said WOW what a difference!!  The 4x16 CP is not a great clear scope but its pretty good and its worlds better then the old Tasco tactical scope.

OK I'll order the BB 3x9!!

Thanks guys, I knew I could count on you!!

I just got the scope mounted. I had to use the tallest rings I had... a set of Milletts. But I like the scope, it zeroed easily and allows me to shoot pellets into the same hole better then before. I assume because of the parallax free.

RATS BEWARE!!!!  ::) ::) ;D
