Title: Beeman R10 -20/5mm
Post by: BlueSteel50 on September 26, 2013, 08:35:04 PM
;D got a R10 on the way-Anyone have a suggestion on what pellets this may like , any 20/5mm R10 owners ? I hate to have to go thru a small fortune chasing down a good one. looking for a pest /plinker pellet . accuracy  is the + .I have some JSBs I bought for my HW50s  22 and they were heavier than it liked and turned into extra lead :( ~~BS50

Give the FTT's and the Crosman's a try been wanting to pick up some of the Webleys myself due to price. My R1 and my Streak both like the FTT's. The R1 shoot's them L@844 H@852 Avg@849 over a 10 shot string for a SD of 2.44. The Streak likes them for accurate shooting but the JSB's for the power shots. I know neither are a R10 but pickings are slim.

Mine likes JSB's best, I tried what few there are and it shoots all well except the crosman pellets in the big brown box those are too tight.

Mine was made some time before 1989 and is stamped Santa Rosa.  It sports the deluxe stock and is in excellent condition.

Tell us about your new shooter.

Vortek has a web site, sounds like a nice shooter is on the way.  I have had a few rifles and I really like how the R10 fits me it seems to be a natural pointer for me.  I think the other older R series are similar.  Mine has never been opened so it shoots a little slow, but for how I use it its is fine, I can cock and shoot all day and never get sore or tired.  We have a short range silhouette set up at our range which is used mainly for pistols but we can also shoot it with low powered rifles R 7 , FWB 300 and such and it works well for that.  I have thought many times about putting a vortek kit in or sending it off to get tuned, but it just shoots so nice I hate to mess with it.  Are you haveing a hard time waiting for it to arrive?  When I bought mine I had to drive to pick it up, I was so afraid of it getting damaged in shipment, they don't make them any more you know. :(

That's like my R1 , never opened  sat for yrs when I got it ,I oiled it old school like they did in those days  and its shooting mid 800s or so and that fine with me for the age and accuracy . Now the R10 in the baby sister spin off of the R1  easier cocking etc .I was hoping to find one all original ,but they seem to be scare , and I already know expensive ~~BS50

Nice , looks like mine, did you get the iron sights with it?  I will PM you.  Another member, Sundog, sent me some pages out of an old beeman catalog you will find interesting.  Unless you already have them.

Mine shoots JSB best, 13.73 at between 616 and 608, I don't think it has ever been opened up.  Great trigger.  I like how the finish has turned dark where it has been handled.

The old Benji Cyl, 14.3 pels were running at 670 with good accuracy  the ship I got in was as follows JSB EXACT 13.73 gr @ 703 +/- Crow Mags 12.81 @ 710 +/- & H&N FTT 11.42 @ 780 +/- after a little fine tuning  they all wanted to shoot pretty good @ 25 yds  weather cond could  have been better .Over all I'm really surprised how tolerant this gun is to different pellet weights.                                (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g218/mossbergman/Beeman%20R%201%20%201985%20vintage%20left%20hand/Beeman%20R10%20%2020-5mm/BenjiHNFTT25yds_zps754ed3de.jpg) (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/mossbergman/media/Beeman%20R%201%20%201985%20vintage%20left%20hand/Beeman%20R10%20%2020-5mm/BenjiHNFTT25yds_zps754ed3de.jpg.html)                                       (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g218/mossbergman/Beeman%20R%201%20%201985%20vintage%20left%20hand/Beeman%20R10%20%2020-5mm/JSB-CMag25yd_zps5f038508.jpg) (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/mossbergman/media/Beeman%20R%201%20%201985%20vintage%20left%20hand/Beeman%20R10%20%2020-5mm/JSB-CMag25yd_zps5f038508.jpg.html)  these all really tried the wind and me din't help with  some of the fliers .I called most when they  happened, but under 1/2" @ 25-30 yds will be easy with some getting used to the trigger a bit more. Wans't a cheap buy ,but i'm happy with it. It's a keeper    ;D ;D ;) ~~BS50

I went and looked at my R7 and R10's to see what you were talking about when you said Santa Rosa...
Then I saw the photo showing the engraving.  ;)

Guess what... Mine all say "San Rafael, CA 94903"
Does that mean I'm an antique owner??????

if it was from San Anselmo then it's the really old ones / If Beeman brought it into the country with the San Anselmo address stamped into the side, they ordered it in 1973 or earlier. It might have been unsold until they moved to their next address, because they wouldn’t have messed with the metal stamping on the gun,San Rafael was second
My special revised 1975 Beeman’s catalog was published with the address 47 Paul Drive, San Rafael.Santa Rosa
The 14th edition of the Beeman catalog was published from San Rafael in 1986, while the 15th edition was published from Santa Rosa in 1988.  to Recap
So Beeman was located here during these years:

San Anselmo
 Beginning to 1974

San Rafael
 1974 to 1987

Santa Rosa
 1987 to 1994

Huntington Beach
1994 to 2009                                                                                                                                                     So your San Rafael is older than the Santa Rosa ,but both locatiuon seem to gather  the attention more than the later guns from Huntington Beach, Gotta ck ,think one of mine is a San Rafael  ,lost track :o .Hate when that happens ~~BS50 ;D ;D ** pulled the info from online link from Dr Beeman

Hey twisted steel, did you get the Beeman info I forwarded you from Sundog?  The other item that was brought to my attention was the "made in West Germany" stamp.  After 1989 the Berlin Wall fell, and West Germany did not exist.  So are there R10 that are stamped just "made in Germany" ?
