Title: my fwb 300s arrived today
Post by: robert w on September 25, 2013, 07:52:44 PM
Its just how woogie man described it. It shoots nice . Sweet trigger . I got to shoot 10 pellets before the skeeters tried to have me for supper. I took a few photos of it beside my hw-55 a fine pair of 10 meter guns

Oh yeah it will shoot.  This was at 10m with the match sights.
After coaching my wife a little bit she was able to split playing cards in half as well.

Dang! Robert - looks like one sweet shooter ;D
I have never shot a FWB 300 but someday I hope to snag me one of them.
Hopefully those skeeters will let you be so you can have your shoot off.

Great pair of rifles there, Robert!  My FWB 300S mini is my most accurate rifle. I shoot mine out to about 20-40 yards regularly off my back porch. I have it scoped at 9x so I can see things at long range. I use it to trim my vegetation and sniP off leaves from trees and bugs off the barbed wire fence. If you thought your HW55 was mellow and accurate, well the 300 is going to bring it to a whole new level. I'll be interested in hearing how you think the two compare. ;D

Welcome to the 300 club Robert.

Are you going to shoot it standing or off a bench?
If standing, get a back belt from Home Depot.  The belt will help protect your lower back.  I use a belt whenever I shoot my match air rifles.

its going to be a bench gun. we both made a trade in eachothers favor. im getting accustomed to it fast . I did shoot my reset target some more today and had my hw-55 . shooting them both at 20 yards both were hitting about the same place on the paddles. I paint them red every time it gets hard to see . however the fwb has a little more power as the hw wasn't setting the paddles up but hit every shot, the fwb was sending them over on the rest bar every shot. the reckord trigger is fine but the fwb is great . I like both guns but the fwb trigger is the cats meow. when I get better suited to the fwb I will shoot some paper. now I need to find a set of sight inserts for the fwb . I prefer a straight post insert .

Robert,

There is a FWB 300 group on Yahoo.
I do not know how active they are.  It has been a while since I was there, but there are a few quite knowledgeable guys that can help you with questions.
As for the sight inserts.  A post insert might be hard to find, as the 300 were for target shooting normally done with aperture inserts.  This is not saying that someone did not make post inserts for it, they might have.  I just do not recall any.
On your other post, I pointed you to Champions Choice as one source for inserts.  It has been a while, so I do not know who else carries inserts for the 300.

Yes for target shooting, you really want a target trigger.
As good as the 300s trigger is, the latter rifles have even better triggers.

Tip.
Pull the 300 FIRMLY into your shoulder when you shoot.  This allows the sledge to properly recoil, to give you the recoilless feel.

I looked but they seem to be out of business so to say. their site wont open up for me but anyway im getting familur to her a lot . im shooting my reset at 25 yards now and if I miss its me not the gun ... cant use that excuse at all , not like I did with my old crosman quest or my gamo big cat either . its just like shootin my Diana 54 in a smaller package . I think of it as a mini 54 . that is a fine pair to shoot too

Oh my, robertw is going for some strange.

Better tell the Diana babies that this misfit is only there for comparison.

So....say what?

Oh....Miss Diana says to robertw;
"put your eye real close up to the sight....let the eyelid rest real gentle...OK?   Real gentle.  Then press and squeeeeeze gently on the sweet trigger".

robertw says:  "OUCH!  dangit."

Hehehehe....laughs the naughty little Fraulein.  Black eyes for the dastardly who dare to go strange.

How is the wood?

Now, now, Robert, be nice.

Robert hit on an interesting point.
The rear sight of the 300 is mounted on the sledge (same for any scope mounted on the 300).  So when the rifle fires, the sight move rearward along with the sledge, about 1/4 to 3/8 inch.  I have had a few coaches tell me that some shooters develop a flinch because of this rearward movement of the rear sight.  In my case I am concentrating on the sight picture and holding the bull in the middle of the front aperture, so I do not notice the movement of the rear sight.

The rubber eye shade/cup has accordian pleats so that you can put your eye up close w/o side light getting in your eye.  The accordian pleats would compress when the rearward movement of the rear sight happens.  But, since I wear glasses, I don't use the eye cup.

The first time I shot these rifles I flinched a bit, as I wasn't aware it would move that much.

Though if you practice your form, and focus on your follow through you shouldn't really notice it that much.  You have much more to worry about than the rifle coming back at your face  ;)

Actually if you are concentrating on your sight picture, you should not notice the rear sight moving at all.

haha we strike up humor. I let a friend shoot my 54 . I told him don't get right up on the scope. pop, ouch. he has a perfect ring in black around his eye. he looks funny. I smile. he says a few choice words. I laugh. he laughs. he then says you said not to get that close . haha. but that fwb is just a fine smaller recoil-less rifle just like my 54 is. either gun will stack pellets . woogie man's 350 will stack them too. it is never the guns fault but we say that to keep a clean profile . yes the goddess of hunting has a precision tool maker gun in the case. I translated fwb and that close to what fwb means

Hahaha, hey robertw....I really did get a partial black eye from a FWB 150!!

I tried to see if I could see more clearly without eyeglasses.  Nope.  So, I just kept getting a little closer....
Boom!

I felt, and looked like a jackass for a while.
