Title: Airgun tuning
Post by: wimpanzee on September 20, 2013, 01:32:20 PM
Does anyone have an air gunsmith that does tuning in the KC area? Or could recommend one to contact and ship to?

I have a Beeman P1 in .22 that just isn't consistently accurate, and I would like a pro to tune it for me, and maybe also clean up my xs-b21 sidelever in .22 as well.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hello...

When it comes to the Tuning of Chinese (Especially), there is Nobody any better than Mike Melick of Flying Dragon AirRifles dot com... he is the best at tuning all the Chinese AG's, and he's fast and Very reasonable with his rates.

I have FIVE of his Six of his guns (including an RWS 48 - .22 cal), all fully tuned by him.... and I will put them up against any of my German Air Guns, any day of the week, in terms of "Smooth" and Accurate.... and I'm sure, that with proper maintenance and care, they will last as long as Any of my German Air Guns.

He also tunes German Airguns as well.... and the RWS 48, .22cal that I recently brought home, was one of Mikes personal guns, and was completely gone through by him (including a JM spring & piston seal kit)... and it is One "Sweet Shooting" rifle, and an absolute "tack driver" out to 40 yds (so far).

The trigger mods he does, whether on German, or Chinese air guns... makes them as smooth and clean breaking as any of my Weihrauchs with the "world famous" Rekord trigger.... give him a call, or email him.   If you call him, it's Always best to call in the morning (he's on Central time... in Burt,IA.), and the earlier, the better.... depending on his work load, you may "Not" be able to get him on the phone, anytime after 11am - Central time.

Hope this might be of help to you.... and again,  he is Very fast on his "turn around times".... you won't be waiting for "months" or even "weeks" for that matter to get your guns back from him.    Mike is a heck of a nice guy to deal with on a personal level as well... a man of his word,  as Many hundreds, if not thousands, over the years... know.

Glad to know there's other Airgunners here in MO.... I live in the SW part,  hoping to find others in this area.     Take Care.

PS:

Ooops, Sorry for the "typo" above... should have read "I have Six of his guns"... Not, "I have Five of his Six of his guns".... Sheesh !!!

Scott aka Moorhead is well known for his tuning skills, you may want to talk with him directly. There are also some tuners in the GTA vendors section, scan through and check out your options. I just sent my Marauder to Travis at Wicked Air Rifles.  Considering airsmiths outside your own locality will expand your options considerably.
