...coming to a forum near you. LOL
This scope was donated by a new member and soon to be vendor for an upcoming GTA monthly raffle. Although I am not familiar with Optisan scopes, I am VERY impressed with this glass.

This one is the Optisan Viper 4-16x50 SWF SCB Reticle model. This scope retails for $320.00.
I removed it from the box and just gave it a quick look see. It has built in flip up lens caps among the most noticeable features. Also features 1/8" per click adjustment at 100 yards. Limited lifetime warranty on everything but the illumination system which is warrantied for 1 year. Even though this is a Japanese manufactured scope, the repair center is in La Crosse, WI. Also comes with a lens cleaning cloth, sidewheel, scope rings, sunshade and a nice scope bikini cover.
THIS is going to make someone VERY happy. And if anyone has experience with Optisan glass and in particular this model, please chime in. If any of our members are interested in special pricing, please contact Jeff at shoot@paperplatetargets.com.
SAFE & Happy Shooting!!!!

Reckon it'll hold up to what we do with them?

Looks like a very nice scope. The British magazines think very highly of it. I would possibly be interested in the big 8-32x60IR Viper.

Is it springer rated?
-
I asked Jeff to chime in with more info as soon as he gets time.
Hopefully he can answer this and any other concerns. It sure is a sweet looking scope.

Thank you for the post!
Yes, they are Springer rated. That’s a good question and comes up frequently. I have sold quite a few and shot with them as well and have not had any issues nor have heard of any. I also have had this discussion with the factory, below is a snippet of our talks.
“Specifically for your question regarding spring piston air rifles I have some examples from other countries. As you have noted the UK has restrictions on the FPE but some other countries that we sell rifle scopes in, such as Italy and the Netherlands, do not have these restrictions. In the Netherlands I have talked to distributors and dealers in the past that sell air piston rifles with 30 Joules or approximately 22 FPE, who have used even our less expensive product lines like Mamba Lite and Cobra without failure. In Italy they routinely use Optisan scopes on Diana 48/52 spring piston air rifles which have high recoil.
We have sold riflescopes specifically for air rifle use for the past 10 years with very few problems. If you have any problems with this application we will replace it or return the purchase price back to you.”
One correction, the scopes were designed in Europe with an emphasis on long range field and target shooting, The SCB reticle designed by MTC in the UK but manufactured at their three ISO9000 certified facilities in China.
I’ve been fortunate to work with U.S. distribution on getting these introduced into the U.S and hopefully we will be seeing them carried in many more places. If I’m successful on that front, I will need to eventually drop the brand.
Thanks again for the great forum!

Many thanks Jeff for the additional info. Not being familiar with the brand I just repeated what was printed n the box that Optisan is a Japanese optics company.
:)
Again, I'm impressed with this glass and hope to acquire one to actually mount and shoot.

I'm not exactly sure what the Marketing buzz intention is by placing "Japan's Secret Optics" on the the box. From what I've read it's because there may be Japan manufacturers using their glass as they do own one of the better lens grinding facilities.

Man, I would love to have that scope on my air gun!

LOL
See the GTA raffle and buy a number or four. It's running this month.
:)
You might get lucky.

Not only would I love the scope, but i would love to/be more than happy to buy 8 of them every month. But i'm restricted from entering because i choose to read more than post. I don't understand the thinking behind it? If you get donations from someone with only a couple of posts , thats better than not getting it at all....which is exactly whats going to happen.

Hummm? I just ordered a new Scope... If I had realized that these were available, I would certainly have considered it. O-Well... maybe I will win it!

Not trying to bash all Optisan optics, but we get a lot of them returned due to factory defects.

Okat "I" am still a bit confused (common for me) as to wether or not the glass is the same (scope the same?) as the MTC SCB reticlue which I have used and was OUTSTANDING.
Looks to be perhaps a great value.
