Hi guys I have another new guy question. It seems that when ever I get a opportunity at a bird (target) my first shot is always the kill shot (most of the time) not bragging read on. If I miss for what ever reason I might as well quit shooting at that target I am not going to hit it any way. It seems as my first shot is more on target because the rifle has been sitting for a while. Is this true? I know a warm up shot would be good but not always a option sitting by the door.
Any ideas?
My gun is a nitro piston if that makes a difference.

I have a Gamo IGT (nitro piston) and it hasn't required any warm up, I just aim squeeze and its all over. If I'm target shooting it seems like it shoots right on the money from the start. I know others have said they need several shots for the gun to accurate but I think they are springers. One thing with air guns is you have to hold them the same way every time and squeeeeze the trigger slowly to keep from pulling your shot. Larry

Take it out and put it on a paper dot. Let it sit, and take it out and put it on paper dot. Let it sit,and.....

I'm a bit confused at this post, are you saying that your first shot from the gun after sitting is the only perfectly placed shot? That's how it reads at least. I had read the total opposite lately that that shot is usually off target. This must only be a spring gun thing I think, I have never experienced any off poa shots from my pcp or co2 guns after them sitting. I always blow off the first shot after a fresh fill though as I have heard that first one can be screwy in pcp's. I'll have to pay attention to this now that I have a springer in my stable.

Good advice! With center fire, that first shot is to dirty up the barrel after it's been clean, not to warm it up. Then it's shooting where you sighted it in at.

Never thought about the dirty it up. I sighted my scope in cold and clean. Some times I just get shooters block and could answer my own questions. Thanks for your patients with me. I really like the shoot tally on your signature. so far I have about 10 Eurasian doves, 4 pigeons and several rabbits. My son did hit a dove tonight for his first kill from 50 yds. The best part is my dog (puppy) retrieved it. Training is working. Thanks again
