Title: Blood on the snow ( first this season)
Post by: dk1677 on December 03, 2010, 10:14:31 AM
We had about 2 inches of the white stuff on Wednesday and I have seen the nutters down the road so I know they are around but I have not had too much time to watch for them. But this morning I saw this guy in my apple tree ( about 30 yards) this morning. He was only about 3 ft off the ground on a branch eating a nut he found. I grabbed the 850 and loaded a RWS SHP and slowly opened the window a crack and took aim at the sweet spot. As I pulled the trigger I saw he moved a bit and the SHP hit in his neck. He dropped of the branch and twitched a few seconds and that was it. As Ed would say I hit a major fuel line  ;)                                                                                            (http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb138/dk1677/100_2267.jpg)

Dave, are you sure you didn't borrow some of that bright red fingernail polish some of those (you know who) guys on here use?  If you did, I like your technique!!  LOL

Great shot and picture.

Thanks Josh, LOL  and 1377! Almost had another it came in the morning and as I open the window it was watching and ran. Then this after noon it was back I had just gotten him in the cross-hairs and he turned around and was moving so I waited and he stopped in a spot where a rose bush was 6 ft in front of me and a willow 20 ft after that I thought I had a shot though but when I took it I missed , I did see a rose leaf moving I might have clipped it or a willow branch that I didn't see in the scope.

Great shooting with the 850 Dave!
That's a very nice pic of the nutter and the nail polish.. ehh.. I mean and the snow!  :)  Seriously though, I really like pics with snow in them.  Just don't like the snow around my house as much :)

And guys, I tought Dave early on all the tricks ;)  I resell bulk nail polish :)  You just freeze the squirrel (don't mount it Crow..hehe), take it out of the freezer, blow dry a little, then apply red nail polish carefully, take pics and you 're done!  Then wash nail polish off, or go over it with white/off-white colored nail polish, blow dry nutter again and re-freeze.
Next time repeat the process with red nail polish on a different spot of the nutter, or his head.  The Master Artista Timmy taught me all this when I first mentioned that his rabbit looked like it had red nail polish on it.. Only in his case he had really washed the rabbit and had blow-dried it!!  (not sure about nail polish though, but I started the rumors) hehehe ;D

Did you really think Dave was shooting a squirrel in his backyard every other day?  He knows all the tricks.  He did it with 2 squirrels (double-header) a week or 2 ago, something none of us have tried before I don't think.  Ingenious!  Welcome to the Nail Polish club Dave!  :)  hehehe :D

Great shooting and pic's bro and snow hunting pic's are the best I feel.Yup if you hit a major fuel line on a critter you know that it will only go so far before the tank is on "E". ;) Ed
