Title: First Kill That Hooked Me
Post by: mohawkmike on August 28, 2013, 02:45:19 AM
My family had a field mouse that decided to chew up 3 of our cars and take up residence in my truck engine bay.

After 3 days of setting traps under the hood and under the truck, I got frustrated and asked my neighbor for advice, to which he handed me an air rifle and BBs.

That night, I pulled up a chair and sat by my truck in the driveway in the dark and within an hour, the rodent popped up.  I had the hood propped up with a screwdriver so it was dark enough to attract the rodent but open enough for me to stick the gun barrel in there.

One clean shot just behind the ear brought it down pretty quick.

A few days later I returned the rifle and then went straight to my local sporting goods store and bought my own rifle and targets.  I was hooked.

Somehow I found this forum and you guys now have me even more hooked.

Only photo I got was with my cell phone in the dark.

Great post! Here in WI in the country any car that sits outside for a length of time suddenly becomes someone else home shortly.

thanks y'all

it was strange, because we have lived in this same house since 1986 and have never had such a thing happen...

although, the other day, i saw a snake cruising around the bushes next to the driveway, so maybe that's what prompted the rodent to search for higher ground?

tell me about it... that three days, i spent $85 on traps and a ratzapper and none of them worked...

a $50 air rifle was all it took... hahaha

yah unfortunately the first of our cars it chewed up caught on fire when my dad drove it not realizing there was a nest in there... poor car got totalled, so when it went after the next two cars in our driveway, the battle was ON... haha

Oh man, that not worthy!

Glad you eliminated the pest before it did more damage.
