Title: QB 57
Post by: Duckfish on August 26, 2013, 08:11:32 PM
This looks like something that could be fun.  Any owners out there who can comment?

Absolutely fun gun and easy to work on.
Makes you feel like a secret agent.

Probably my favorite gun to go out and play with.  With a 6x scope it is a good 15yd gun for exploding Tums.

Not a bench rest gun.  Good offhand, especially after a gas ram conversion.

Plenty of info around if you search patiently.

So if I order one I can rely on a few of the people here to help with modding?  Gas ram sounds
awesome.

Ordered, will be here in three days.  Send me links to stuff I need.  I'm a newbie to working on airguns.

Just search QB57.

The gas ram stuff is under the ChinaGate pinned as gas ram conversions.  QB57 mentioned specifically.

I have one. You can see a picture of it on A******s airgun blog from May this year. Mine is a .22, and with a good clean-up, lube tune, and top hat for inside the piston, it's a very nice shooter, and does about 530 fps with 14 gr. pellets. I'm not even tempted to do a gas ram conversion. I also did a bed liner finish on the stock, added an air soft can for looks, and a 2.5x shotgun scope. Fun to shoot and own!

I have one in .177 and one in .22      Both of them are fine shooters and a heck of a lot of fun.  Did a home tune on both and they turned out really nice.  I mounted a simple 4x scope on each gun and they give me superb accuracy out to 30 yards.  I've used both of them to take rabbits and squirrels inside of 30 yards with no problem with good shot placement (head shots).   Definitely fun gun, I'm glad I have mine  :)

It's a fine ugly stick to beat on rabbits and squirrels! A little home tuning helps anything. Mine is a good 30 yard gun, and I'm still using the OEM flip-up drilled for a peep sight.

Hello Guys,
Excuse my Google translation. I write very little English.  :(

The pleasant surprise is that, contrary to the supposed collective knowledge, it is not at all "pallet wood".

It is relatively light, certainly, but really hard. When the woodwork was struck by a plastic hammer, and it sounds rather acute .... Far from "Plop" performed on Balsa.
Hand sanding was fairly athletic, to eliminate some irregularities due to the "primary production".
I think that we can actually use the stick as a golf club at the end of life of the QB! It should take it!

The treatment is done with a renovator cedar oil for dark wood and this gives to conform with the old woodwork antique vintage radios
It is warmer than the black plastic spread greatly!

The disassembly and reassembly have posed no problem and shooting with open sights is consistent with previous ........

Time to get serious..........  :D

Given the impatience of the most assiduous. I admit that this time around, I was hoping not so much for shooting with open sights, the "read" some fans in this area. To believe that it has never been tried!

By following the advice, I understand the need to pull support to achieve good targets.

So here I am sitting with my beautiful Asian lying on the table.

Sensuality: I touch the fingertips, caress him whispering sweet words, higher and firmly take the hands, the strength of the side lever, load and .........

Everything is in the target!
I am moved.

Well, this very rewarding experience, I decided immediately to continue.
Light setting up ...... muscle relaxation .... Aikido mind in action, the total concentration

And there, Ultimate Ecstasy! ..... Finally, for me.

Ultimately, this small Chinese is not so bad that many are willing to say. I am very surprised at the result ...... for QB57.

I imagine future results with the telescope base supplied with the rifle (Must be dreaming, right?)
Okay, I admit myself that before hand on unthinkable targets such as graphics cards, etc. antediluvian. (A good box of weights, at the most)

 -A Distance Target/Airgun: 20m.
-B Shot sitting on table and bipod.
 -C Wind: almost zero speed
-D sharp Leads Decathlon Magnum (1998!)
-E I tan because it is beautiful and 6 °!
-F I remind readers that this is still a QB57!
-G Challenge G-2 sets of 10 shots, always the quiet neighbors.

The sleeping beauty:

For information, this faith will the pellets begin to be used "Vintage" (Note that the price is still in French Francs!)

First series (The first lead is Out, requires set up for the following nine)

Second series, after setting up new is better.

Practicing self-satisfaction, I am convinced that it is even Excellent! ....... Uh ... always for me!
You will notice less clear cut on the cards, likely due to sharp shot

Actually, this QB not shoot so bad!

nice job on the finish, and good shooting with open sites. I never had any problems with the open sites on both my 57s but it was a struggle with my ageing eyesight. What shape are those pellets your using, pointed, flathead or domed.

If you look at the picture of the tin  it looks like pointed pellets

TNX

Ok,:
Pellets are same as "Gamo Pro Magnum pointed"
Caliber: 4,5 mm "Diabolo" (.177)
Projectile weight: 0.490 grams (Projectile weight: 7.6 grains)

For information:

To avoid the memory is lost and for general fun ..... and posterity (you understand me), so here's an update on this fabulous rifle passed to the most excellent and highly accurate (There ...... I'm exaggerating ...) tool for smartphone "Chrono Connect Lite"

Some results that will meet the worshipers "Chinese Airguns" and will no doubt exacerbate ...... others.   :D

We must recognize that these results, moreover accurate, are not from the undisputed reference, I named the "Chrony", but will get an idea about the perfs of this "darn" gun! (Well. .... I speak only of my own.)   ;D

My .22 does good with RWS pointed but other wise CPHPs and wad cutters are the norm. My .177 won't shoot anything pointed but maybe I'll try some others, so far I have the best luck believe it or not with Daisy Hollow points, they fit the snuggest in the breach.

What's the outside diameter of the barrel (minus the front sight housing) for one of these in .22?

I can't remember exactly but its under 1/2" Because I was thinking of threading that portion but it was too small for 1/2x20.

Hello,
a little new to this QB57 (I owe him that for his birthday!)

During a test, not with a telescope, but with a "Red Dot" cheap, too.

It is a Chinese clone (another one!), A 1x45 model, rather large but bright enough. And for € 12 (U.S. $ 15), we will not grumble ..... huh? And a lil Picatinny rail $3  ... Come roll youth!!

Monster Closeup :

Detail of 20mm Picatinny rail, laid in place of the 11mm.

You will notice that the open sights is still active (in the lower fields of Red Dot) through the optical viewfinder, with a slight recovery of the woodwork cannon. This allows to overcome the extinction of oversights ...... dramatic for the red dot! :D

Here, the increase is down to let the visible front sight blade. Good brightness, even with the protections in place ...

The bipod on the barrel ...... great topic!  :D  To isolate the vibration bipod, a neoprene band is sandwiched between the barrel and bipod .... effective!

For shooting at 20m, don't increased airgun performances but visual comfort is increased despite the absence of magnification.

Got mine last week took it to the range.  Shot left and sight would not move far enough to compensate.  Couple good wacks with my ballpien hammer and all is good.  I'm going to paint sights white so I can see them.

I had to recenter the front muzzle break to rectify that condition on one of my 57s but I heated it first and turned it by hand and it stayed. Both of mine also benefited from redressing the crown but of course I temporarily removed the muzzle break to do it. I had an incident on my .177 where the set screw that secures the bear trap lever came out and it fell off as the gun misfired, I used blue loctite to reinstall.

I will heat up the front sight and adjust.  And well, yes I have a couple cowboy rifles and those rear sights are adjusted with a small hammer believe it or not.

What about the guy from Quebec?
