and is $99 . anybody seen this scope or tried it ? i can hardly find any info on it online . nothing on http://www.bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/banner (http://www.bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/banner) or http://www.walmart.com/browse/optics-binoculars/rifle-scopes/bushnell/4125_4155_649999_1075065/YnJhbmQ6QnVzaG5lbGwie?_refineresult=true&ic=60_0&pref_store=2295&ss=false&tab_value=all&search_sort=4 (http://www.walmart.com/browse/optics-binoculars/rifle-scopes/bushnell/4125_4155_649999_1075065/YnJhbmQ6QnVzaG5lbGwie?_refineresult=true&ic=60_0&pref_store=2295&ss=false&tab_value=all&search_sort=4)

i'm a lil concerned about the spacing of the dots on the CF500 reticle . but my DBO kit will be here tuesday so i'll know more then . if i don't like it i'll take it back and try the CP 4-16x40AO . this is my first real scope since i was a kid (over 30 years ago) so ....... don't take my comments as someone who really knows what their talking about . :-[ LOL

For $100 you can get a decent Leapers scope, I know the argument Leapers vs. Hawke has been hashed out 1000x but you know the Leapers "is a good value"... IMHO....
And you know it will hold up on air gun. Etched reticles......

A $100 Leapers isnt going to havenan etched reticle but It will still hold up against a springer

i did take it back and got the CP 4-16x40AO , feeling kinda iffy about it but time will tell .

Please update us on the CP 4x16x40ao? Been thinking about it myself....$60 with shipping sounds like it might be what I'm looking for.

i think you just led me to the new scope for on my .17hmr :) lol
i think more companys need to start making scopes that have reticles that follow a trajectory better than mil dots,
like this one,and my favorite (hawke sidewinder SR reticle)
it just seems more useful to me to be able to have a reticle that actually works to compliment the trajectory of your pellet/bullet/arrow/etc...
i love my sidewinder,it works amazingly on my mrod, and it will be on my crossbow this fall :)
but at a third of the price of my sidewinder, i may have to pick one of these up to try on my .17
one question though,
i see 2 different pictures of this scope on ebay/walmart ,one has an adjustable objective and one does not,
did the one you got have AO?
-
it has AO . finally found another place that has it

If that is the picture of the scope D14jeff got, then it's a AO scope.

I'll have to check out that Bushnell. It looks like a nice scope, and I'm a Bushnell fan.
I have the Centerpoint from WalMart and Ive been VERY impressed with it. It's without a doubt the best sub $100 scope I've tried. Only two things I dont like, are that its heavy, and has an illuminated reticle. But the glass is very good in these. I sold a Hawke Sport HD after buying mine. And the Hawke cost more!

I've had experience with two CP 4-16x40 scopes in the last few months & neither of them held up. One was bought new from Walmart & the other came with a used AG I bought.
Had a UTG 4-16x56 before that & it too failed. My first scope too.
All mounted on either a magnum or super magnums (have 3) so they might have worked fine on a less powerful coil/gas spring AG. Non-issue I'm pretty sure for PCPs.
I've since bought only Hawkes, 3 Varmints 6-24x44 (one refurbished & the other two new) & two used Sidewinders. I'll stick with the Hawkes.

I tried 2 of the UTG 3-9x32 Compact CQB Bug Buster AO RGB Scopes, 1st one crashed and then the replacement scope crashed. (at least they're consistent) I am done with UTG and am replacing it with a Hawke Optics 3-9x40 AO Sport HD scope.
I already had a Hawke Optics 3-9x40 AO Sport HD scope on my Whisper and thought I would try the UTG, on my Stalker, boy was I wrong.

Since I'm new to all this, could I ask you guys why you would need a 16x or 24x scope for airgun? What distances are you shooting?
Thanks
-
The higher magnifications are used for more accurate range finding with the adjustable objective.

Aim small miss small. Instead of aiming at the Dr Pepper can, aim for the inside of one of the “P”s.
A more powerful scope will let you do this at a greater distance. 8)

What distances are you talking about here?
Seems to me it would be a bit more twitchy and what are the effects of mirage , if any?
Thanks

teaches ya to "hold still (bleep)"
with correct optical qualities mirage is not a problem

I have shot match heads at 50 yards and have been known to shoot at .177 pellets (Gamo PBA) also. Spent 22lr casings at 70 yards and spent shotgun at 100 yards are fun too.
A big (power wise) scope will bring small targets in so you can get a good aim on them.
I haven’t shot at anything as big as a coke can in years. Pests do not count.

Cans can be fun to shoot. When my neighbor leaves his beer unattended for a few minutes, I enjoy putting a hole in the bottom. ;D

I got one of these at my local wally world on clearance for $49.99 yesterday. I have 4 broken CP 4-16x40 AO IR scopes that the NP2 and NP XL ate last Fall and Spring. I am getting an Armada in .25 and plan to put a really nice Hawke Or Aeon scope on it. I'll let you guys know how long it lasts on the NP2.
