Title: Its Official!
Post by: 1nmartin on August 01, 2013, 11:30:47 AM
I've been saving up for a TX for a few months now, putting all my spare change (and all my other spare cash) in a coffee can labeled "TX 200". Seeing so many members here buying new ones, or just bragging about ones they had for a while is just feeding the fever. ;D  My birthday is at the end of September (29) and this past weekend my wife told me that I could go ahead and buy the TX for my birthday. ;D At the rate I was saving, it would've been around February next year before I had the funds. As you could imagine, I was elated to hear this news! She could see the excitement on my face when she said this. She rolled her eyes and said "I'm too nice to you." My response was, "So does this mean I can have it here by my birthday or I have to wait til my birthday to order." I then had to duck to avoid collision between my face and her incoming hand... ;)

I think I'm gonna skip the walnut stock and buy a Vortek kit instead. Definitely going to get .177. I'll probably go with the MkIII version, since I've heard that the HC is louder. Plus I don't really care for the look of the shorter barrel. I'm considering the Leapers 4-16x44 SWAT scope. I would like to put a much nicer glass on her, but I don't wanna push my luck with the wife. I think I might also slip a shooting chrony in the cart before I order too :D

I figured I would share my excitement with you guys, I feel like I'm 12 again, counting the days until my birthday. ;D

Order it NOW.  When it come in, place it of the breakfast table where you will see it every day.  No, don't open it.  No, not now.  That's right--wait until September 29 to open it.

You will love the TX once you can safely take it out of the box and shoot it. But you absolutely must not even open the box until your B-day

The beech is preferred in my book.  It really shows off the cool fish scale stuff, come up with some extra bucks somewhere and buy her some flowers.

Happy Early BDay :)  Good call on the Beech w/ Vortex.  The GTA TX club is growing quick.  Might be time to get the TX as the new rifle in the GTA logo.

These things sell out fast!
Also, get the Walnut. Trust me, you won't regret it. You'll be kicking yourself later saying I should've got the Walnut! ;D

You don't have buy another TX to get the Walnut - I've seen used stocks for sale, you just have to look around.

I read somewhere that the Walnut stocks are actually lighter than the beech. On P.A. it lists both as being 9.3 lbs though. Can anyone validate this?
But now you got me thinking Nikoman... Darn this addiction ;D

Walnut is lighter than Beech.
And if you need to save more weight, get the HC - it's about 1/2 lb lighter than the full length MKIII. Same exact rifle, same length in rifled barrel portion (just the shroud is shorter).

The HC is about 8.5 lbs in Walnut.

What a wonderful birthday present. What an understanding wife. Get her flowers and candy. Congrats on the TX. Maybe one day, some how, some way, I will have one. I know you will enjoy it.

First thing I noticed when the box disintergrated w/ my beech .22, was that it was nose heavy, beautiful but nose heavy (kinda like me). Hopefully scope will kind of balance out.

I don't really care for the look of the HC. Plus I've heard its louder. Also I like the Idea of more leverage on the longer cocking arm.
I like to shed weight where I can but I don't like to sacrifice looks in the process ;D

To be honest with ya, have never seen a TX200 full size. My HC, love it's looks. Cocking for extended shots is not a problem (shot 140 pellets into box in shop (breaking in barrel while waiting for mounts to come). Will do mod when what I've got is paid for.
Don't know if there's a airgun group in Fresno that has shoots regularly; might have to make a trip to Sac area. So far I'm happy.

Not really much louder to tell you the truth, the difference is unnoticeable to me especially when shooting them outdoors.
