Thanks to my brother for the tools, here is the beginning of my Rifle stock odyssey. Prottype: if I pull this off I will duplicate in Walnut or some other exotic wood. here goes nothing!

Thanks to Howie for the inspiration and Haywire for "how to". Haywire makes this stuff look easy.....not easy but common sense will get you through.

I bought a book written in 1934, no cnc, no machines just hand tools. I own a Howie stock and love it! I used Howie, haywaire2 and that book. Here are my current photos. I started with a a 4x4x56 chunk of wood. if can make this work I will use a good piece of walnut next time. http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/rainmaker368/media/Stockstage211_zpsd0c48805.jpg.html (http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/rainmaker368/media/Stockstage211_zpsd0c48805.jpg.html)

Excellent start.  The curves look great.

I did mine the same way, basic hand and power tools.  I finally have a finished pic up with recoil pad and scope if you click the link below.
