I thought you guys might enjoy this old fellow. It's a very early HW 55, made in the early 1950's. Serial number is 1010, one of the oldest HW rifles I have seen. As you can see, many details are quite different from later guns. It does NOT have the famous Rekord trigger, but a simple stamped blade with basic sear adjustment only.
Other differences: the screw-off rear section is much shorter than later HW's; the buttplate is a beautiful cast aluminum one; the rear sight is a compact milled-steel affair; the front sight is a simple dovetailed post; the cocking links are solid forgings; the trigger guard is much different; and all the attachments of the action to the stock are quite different.

sure a lot different than my 1969 + 1970 hw-55's . the trigger looks a lot like the trigger my stoeger x5 has. mabe that is where stoeger got their ideas. rob off a very great gun. but that's a nice old 55
