Title: Missouri get-together
Post by: Lobo on June 16, 2013, 06:13:29 PM
Ok, I been thinking and decided to see if anyone was interested in this.

I am going to have a get-together this fall. I thought I would post this ahead of time so that the date can be worked out. I was thinking a one day shoot (just for fun). I would be smoking some meat, and grilling burgers, etc.

Would anyone be interested in this?

Thanks!

Lobo,

Where are you located?  What is the date?  I'm in central Illinois, if the distance isn't too great and there is no conflict, I'm interested.

Sorry! Knew there was something I was forgetting to add! I am near the town of Nevada, MO. About 100 miles South of Kansas City.

The date is still up in the air and I am open to suggestions. Really, just whatever works out for those that want to attend. I was thinking maybe October, so the temps would be a little bit cooler.

As of right now, we can do it any day of the week. I will shoot you a PM, if that is alright?

I'm only three hours away.  Did I already miss this?

Been trying to work up enthusiasm for a meet-and-shoot here on my little acre
but haven't gotten any replies.  I'm open to a crowd sometime this Fall.  Ribs
and hens on the smoker and beans in the pot.  Any takers?

How did it end up going? How many people showed up? Any memorable targets?

Well, it ended up just being me! But that is ok, too. Had a lot of fun shooting and eating. Drank a bit of hard cider after the shooting was done. :-)

Hey!  I have plenty of fun all by myself too.  But I do enjoy a good crowd
having a good time.  We'll get something worked up here.  If lucky, we'll get
it going when all the trees turn into multi-color!  I'll be in touch.

When I slow down a little (lots of Fall projects to get done now that it's
cooler and I want to get them done before Winter, which I hate) I'll hit the
forum with news which may convince some to get off their duffs and come
have fun with a bunch of addicted air fools.

I'm on the KS side but these get togethers sound close enough that I may end up being able to make some of them depending on work. I'm up closer to Kansas City. Glad to see some people trying to get this going.

Hello Lobo,

My name is Jim and I know I've missed the "party" by at least 2 yrs now, but.. I'm a "newbie" on here, and just read your "MO. get-together" thread.... and just wanted to let you know that "IF" your planning any future "events", or... even know of any in the greater SW. MO. area... please, let me (us ..my wife & I) know.

We're "new" to the world of Air Guns (just since 2013)... at the young age of mid 60's (VN vet)... and already have a "few" air guns of various kinds and types.... along with a host of various "reaction" type steel targets, and paper as well.. that we would be willing to bring along to contribute to the fun.     We're looking for some "good living" folks (re: no "party animals") who have a common and sincere love for this sport, to share and enjoy it with...... and hopefully, some solid new friendships as well.      Thanks.

I'm up for a get-together this year.  If someone is willing to help I might even be willing to host one.  I'm located close to the middle of the state and have 20 acres to shoot on.  My first order of business this year is to get a house built on it and then I will be open to suggestions.

I've seen the map grow with more users over the past year or so.

We should organize an "airgun day at the range" and we all show up at Lake City or something. They have a pretty nice 100 yard range there. Pigeon Hill up by St. Joe is an unmanaged range, if that is preferred. I've never had a problem at Lake City though, and it is quite a bit nice than Pigeon Hill.

I'm perfectly happy to meet at someone's property too, though, and would even volunteer a rack of ribs or a bucket of beans or slaw to make it a day. I just don't have enough room to do it at my house :)

I'm more than happy, too, to bring my rangefinder and chronograph, if anyone wants to use those tools for refining their guestimating and tuning! I've also got a torque wrench for scopes, some nice molykote77, and such...in other words I'm happy to help anyone in any capacity I can, with the tools I have available!

As soon as it warms up a little...

I believe there are also unmanaged ranges in Weldon Springs (near STL) and Jackson (near Cape Girardeau. And possibly in/near Eureka?

I'm hoping I can get an actual response from someone / anyone, this time.... I'm "new" here, both on GTA and in MO. (3yrs - through marriage, am from MT.).... we (wife & I) can travel to wherever in MO. for a get together and shoot... pretty well can meet anytime, Except on a Saturday.... which, I know probably throws a "monkey wrench" into it for getting together with most shooters, who ARE available on Saturdays, Only(??)... Basically, I'm / we're available for a "shoot" most anyday(s) of the week except for Saturdays.

I'm retired, and my wife just took an early retirement.. so we're both "game" to meet others in the sport... we're in the SW portion of the state, east of Branson, near Forsyth... if there is anyone in this area, interested in meeting up... or even down, into NW AR. - Harrison and surrounding area.      I've put twelve(12) other posts on here, and so far.. no direct response, so not sure what to think about all this, ????..... Anyone "out there"???  :-\
Title: Re: Missouri get-together

Oooops !!.... Don't know what I did wrong(??)... I pasted two "quotes" and replied to them, under the quotes, but it didn't post anything that I wrote... ????

Anyway, long story short... am "game" to meet up with any other serious air gunners for a "shoot"... I (and my wife) am from the SW, MO. area (east of Branson) and FREE TO TRAVEL, WHEREVER to a meet.... any day, Except Saturdays... sorry.   I have various Multi-Pumps, Springers (break barrels, under & side levers) and PCP's in all four small bores, .177, .20, .22 & .25... also an assortment of paper and steel reactionary targets that I could bring along.

IF... there is anyone in the SW portion of the state (from Springfield "AREA", and south... on down to the Harrison,AR area) please get in touch with me here, if interested in meeting up.. or at least let me know that "your out there" and maybe we can work something out.

I am retired, and my wife recently took an "early retirement", so if any of you have wives that are even remotely interested in shooting together with us, my wife would love to come along and be involved as well... and has a few airguns, herself.... although, "new" at this sport.. she wants to really get some fun target time, in... and would love to meet other women around who are into it, as well... so if any of you guys have wives or girlfriends with an interest and wish to participate in a fun shoot and meet new friends... we're "up to it",  but it won't happen if we don't know who's "out there".   ;)     Hope to get some "feed back" from any and everyone... thanks.    Shoot straight and may you always hit what your aiming at.   ;D ;D

Hi There...VERY INTERESTED in getting together with other air gunners in MO. (read my other posts).... Can Travel ANYWHERE, ANYTime, EXCEPT for Saturdays   :-\ .  Would LOVE to hear from you, and meet up... am retired and wife is recently so... and also has a desire to get into this as well, and has several airguns of her own, already.... at least she wants to try.  ;) ;)      Hoping to hear from you.... ANYBODY..... it's fun shooting by "yourself"... but, Not the same as spending a day (or two?) shooting & sharing the fun (& competition) with like minded new friends.

Another option,
Shane Seals here and I own the Josephville Gun Shop in Wentzville, Mo. On Friday mornings I host and indoor air rifle shoot. We shoot pretty much every Friday unless it is a holiday week end. We shoot the Gammo target at 33 feet indoors not many rules. Some brace off the door frame and some shoot free hand. Usually 10-15 shooters, we start at 9:00am and quit at noon. There is no cost involved. I supply the targets and coffee and some one usually brings donuts. Bring your rifle and pellets or shoot one of ours. It is all about bragging rights. This is a very informal shoot, mostly a bunch of us old retired/retarded guys but some of the younger folks also. It started out as something to do inside during the winter for a few rimfire shooters and has grown from there and they will not let me stop it. All are welcome if it gets too big we can just shoot longer.
I am about 40 miles west of St. Louis Missouri just outside of Wentzville not far from the General Motors plant. Take Hwy 70 to exit 212 which is Hwy A  go north on Hwy A to the third street on the right, Josephville road turn right I am 2.6 miles down on the left at the corner of Josephville and Wortman roads. 1561 Josephville road. call first if you are traveling far to make sure we are shooting that Friday 636-332-5450

Hi Teep,

Don't know if you saw or read my reply to one of your posts (Below, from Jan.25th, 2016) in regards to your possibly hosting an event at your place, if someone was willing to help..... well, I would not only be willing to come, but would be willing to help in any way I can from down here in the SW corner of the state.... Please, get back to me and let me know.    Thanks, I'd appreciate it.    Take Care.

I am new to GTA, but ready to put in some trigger time this spring. I live at the Lake of the Ozarks and enjoy a 25 yard range in the back yard with about four other friends that enjoy their air time. I would love to get together and meet some more shooters in the area(state). I will look into a larger venue in the area. I've heard of a decent unsupervised range in the area but have not found it yet. Let's keep the momentum up until we all get together.

Welcome, "Hangloose"...am pretty "new" on hear myself,  just a few months, now.   I and my wife, live in the SW portion... east of Branson about 30 miles.  We were invited up to Josephville,MO (just north of Wentzville, on I-70... west of St. Louis about 30 - 40 miles)... a few weekends ago to the Josephville Gun Shop, where a sizable "small" group of about 15 guys (& wives, to!) get together every Friday morning for a 10 meter Indoor shoot.... My wife an I Never have done 10 meter before,  and especially with "springers" that are just Not made for that style of shooting.... It was EMMMMbarrassing !!!.... to say the least.   :'(   But.... a Really Great bunch of fellows (and gals), and they let try (1st time for us) some pcp and single pump 10 meter guns.... WOW !... What a difference,  and because my wife and I drove for 4+ hours to get there... they held a 2nd shoot on Saturday morning..... Wonderful folks !!

Anyway.... just read your post, here.... and would Love to hear back from you in regards to getting together for a shoot.... "Have (air) Guns, Will Travel"   ;)      I'm retired, wife just took an "early" retirement... and looking for folks to shoot with.    We are BOTH, "new" to air guns since 2013... and so far... "we" only have 19 to play with...... this isn't a "sport".... it's a "disease" !!!   ::)

Please write reply back.... I generally watch this page at least three times a week... so, will reply quickly to you... or, Anyone else who wishes to chime in.... always on the lookout for new shooting friends.

Outlaw, where are you east of Branson? I work in Branson and live about 20 miles east on 76.

Maybe near Bradleyville?
