Less than two months into owning my first PCP (my beloved B50), I found myself wondering if the new synthetic M-Rods will result in people wanting to sell their current ones... then it was 'well.. I suppose I'd have to get one in .177'... followed by 'Hmm. Maybe I should just start gathering info on the M-rod together in a website for reference later....
I swear. PCPs need a surgeon generals warning label when it comes to their addictive qualities.

Feed the addiction ;D Here, have a cookie. Now when did you order that Mrod? And what's next on the must have list?
-
Adding to this "Hate" of PCP's ..... is now you shoot more lead which costs you even more coin, shoot more often getting you in further hot water with your SO.
Yea PCP's really have all things going for it that is Bad bad bad news for us AG'ers
Buy 3 and spread around the blame ... worked for me ;D

The expense of fill gear (tanker or pumper) gets divided in half when you get your 2nd gun....inthirds with your 3rd gun. So in an odd way, it almost makes economic sense to get another PCP.

hahahahahahahahaha
Said it before and I will say it again..........
Ya'll are all sooooo bad.
(Like your thinking Ribbonstone. It almost seems rational to me. Fortunately I have at least one more gun to buy this year)

I'm trying to stay in denial and keep telling myself: 'So long as I still use a pump it is just a hobby, not an addiction...'

That's what I tell myself! Ha...

Addiction isn't *all* bad. :)

If you stay with a pump, its also a healthy hobby :) I mean, pumping is a little bit of a workout, especially for longer shooting sessions!
Rimfire used to be that way with me. At one time I think I had 7 rimfire rifles! I only have 3 now, and honestly would be fine with just one. My 10/22 is up for debate weather I should sell it and buy a Shoebox. I just might. Then get a guppy tank... :)

Ribbonstone.....
I ran your idea by my wife and she did not agree.
I really love that woman but sometimes I think she has never developed a sense of logical understanding.
Your idea made perfect sense to me and almost made me feel like a fool for not thinking of this myself.
How can I NOT buy more PCP airguns now? Heck so far I've just thrown good money away on a Hill pump.
Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.
You truly are a Saint.

Ok...then wait for her to either dent the car or get a ticket (bonus for both)....seem to be more open to suggestion at such times.
(Alternative: golden rule (of guys): It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.)

It is for this reason that 14 years ago, my new bride and I made a pact that we would get a small amount of our income as "allowance" for each of us each month. Each of our very own money that we could save or spend as "wastefully" as we wanted (in the other's eyes) and no words could be said, no judgments could be made. This was one of the best decisions that we ever made as a couple. It takes me a good while to save for stuff sometimes, but boy it's worth it for not having to ask to spend on things that she may not see a point in spending anything at all on...

Yeah, the crazy thing is, these things are addictive even if you don't own one yet! :o I keep trying to find ways to get into it, but the big stopper is cost. I may have found a way though by going the B50 and hand pump route. I was dead set against a hand pump, but I have to face reality and accept that it may be the only option open to me for now. I can do this in stages, and I bet a lot of you did just that when you started out. I would rather take my time and avoid costly mistakes. I've already made enough by buying stuff I really do not need. Just look at my gun list. Yeah, I was dumb. ::)
I am learning that reliance on CO2 is deceptively expensive over time, and pumping for every shot reduces accuracy because after awhile your muscles tire and you get the shakes. I realize a hand pump will tire you, but you do not have to pump for every shot. One other thing that will stretch out your pumping interval is taking your time with each shot, make each one count. Punishment for wasting them is more pumping! ;D

Being a total newbie in the world of PCPs and pretty much airgunning, I can honestly say that pumps are not, in most cases, as bad as some make them out to be.
I have my B50 tuned in for hunting. Its slinging JSB 18.3g pellets at 860ish FPS, yielding me around 30fpe. I can take 20 shots and maintain 30fpe if need be. Typically, I'll take 15 as thats what my pellet pen holds, then pump. At this poing, I'll have gone from 2800 to 2200psi. 30-40 pumps brings me back to full.
IF you weigh less than 150lbs or so, you may have issues with the pump. I know my father in law, at 145lbs found the pump pretty much near impossible to use comfortably. My 175lb nephew found it difficult, but not in an annoying way, and definitely doable.

Sounds better and better. Thanks for sharing.

There is a reason PCP is called the Darkside... I am afraid to get my first one. I may never stop...
