Went to remove rear sight so a scope would fit. Using a Chapman gunsmith screwdriver and medium-firm pressure, the screw immediately stripped. Screw is soft as butter. Any tips on getting it out? Gun only cost 85bux so i don't feel like taking it to a smith to remove it.

watch what you say about chinese as some think if you say anything except chinese your being racial. i know first hand . but if you take a drill bit and remove the head mabe you could get it off then take vicegrips and screw it out . if the head is bad its gonna need a new screw anyway

true that... plus you will never say that again after beating a theoben rapid with a home tuned B40 in a silhouette match... The screws are not butter, but they seem to be loctite. if you stripped it go to lowes or HD and get a back tap. then put a new allen set screw in the hole.

I think a lot of rifle manufacturers use soft screws to help prevent damage to the rifles and various parts. I've found similar soft screws on my XISICO, Hatsan, and even Diana rifle. It would make sense since it is much easier to replace a damaged or stripped screw than to repair damage to a reciever or barrel. I usually just drill a small hole and use an easy out set. If the screw is really stubborn I'll heat it a little.
