Title: a little bling for a stoeger x-5
Post by: robert w on May 28, 2013, 10:51:11 PM
i was looking for a low priced gun to compliment my mendoza rm-377. i settled for a stoeger x-5. i got it home and it shoots better than i expected for an 89 dollar gun. sadly they went to lunch when he finished the stock,so i worked it over with some caseys birchwood stock sheen and stock wax . heck even my wife liked the end results . before and after photos. and our dog red had to get in the photo shoot too

Nice work Robert.  I guess if the rifle cost $400 there would be a better effort on the finish.  JMO

id sure hope so. mmy mendoza and my dianas have a better finish , but the metal is realy suprizing. its a deep rich blue without any grind marks  almost looked like they polished it before they blued it . thank you for the compliment. its breakin in rather well ,almost scary seein how accurate it shoots . im still skeptical buyin a chinese gun but the stoeger line looks a tad better that run of the mill chinese guns from what i see . however it might develope a hickup

so far its getting quarter sized groups at 20 yards and seems to get a little tighter as we shoot it. its got almost 700 pellets down its tube . i cronied it sunday and posted the numbers on another post here . after i get another 500 shots down the tube its crony time again. i need to open it up and do a little shimming as the sear is sloppy and i belive it might be better if the sear was not having side movement . i need to use  a feeler guage and see how thick i need to make the shims . id prefer 1 on each side as using 1 on 1 side only and i need to make some brass shims for the barrel as it has plastic and we know where that will be before long
