Title: Did some work on the M-rod.
Post by: xeasternskies on May 24, 2013, 03:31:54 PM
Well I spent a few days in the shed this week and I can honestly say I've never sanded so much in my life LOL. Cut out the stock and 8" on the front of the gun and lost a total of 2.6 pounds. Also worked on the grip for quite some time to fit my fingers and a weaver mount on the front for less metal on the bipod. Only tools I used were a Jigsaw, Drill, Dremel sanding bits, Orbital sander, Microplanes, and a tooooooon of sandpaper in different grains. Pretty happy with the end result since the weight is soo much lighter, Recommend anyone who wants to lose some weight to do this because its much easier to handle now with a sling. Only put two coats of stain and did a sloppy job and plan to go back for some real stain and clear gloss but had to get back to shooting if you know what I mean! Total weight with scope and bipod before was 12.4 pounds, now currently am at 9.8.

That is beautiful and 2-1/2 lbs in dropped weight is awesome!
