Title: A new/old Girl to spend time with
Post by: daveb50 on May 22, 2013, 03:16:05 PM
I picked up another Sheridan Blue Streak last week, a '68 rocker safety model to go along with my new-er '97 model. She looked a little sad when I pulled her from the shipping box.  She looked like she had been sitting in someone's attic, gathering dust for many years, neglected and alone, other than the spider that had built a home inside her stock. I pulled her stock and wiped her down gently with some Goo Gone on a cloth, followed by a  spray and wipe with Balistol. Suprisingly, she had very little gunk in her barrel when I ran a cleaning patch. I put her back together and put some pellgun oil  on her pump handle joints and piston/seal. I have some of Tim's secret sauce coming for her to sip later. I gave her four pumps, put a pellet in her breech, pulled the bolt, aimed and squeezed her trigger gently.  She barked, sent the pellet downstream and punched a hole in a paper target, just left of my aim point.  My old eyes smiled, they do not work well with open sights anymore, but she seems to be very accurate.  I need to get a Williams peep for her, like I did her younger sibling( the '97).  I left her sit overnight with four pumps, and when shot, she didn't seem to have leaked down at all.  Her stock has some character, meaning she probably saw a lot of field time. When shooting one of these old reliable Dan's, I wish she could talk, imagine the hunting tales she could tell. How many furry and feathered creatures fell instantly to her one shot accuracy. She's a great old Gal, who will spend the rest of my time (I'm sure she will outlast me, and maybe a few more companions), punching mostly paper and tin cans.  A good retirement of sorts, sharing the company of some other fine airguns.

Congrats on the new member of the family. Great news that she doesn't need a reseal.
I'm looking for the best place to buy the peep myself.

I got my other Streak a Williams peep from Midway USA, but I see they are out of stock now. I must have told too many people about it.  ;D ;D. I'll order one anyway and wait at that price. $36.99 and $ something shipping.
