Title: Just Ordered the Marauder Pistol!!! #51
Post by: Jay on November 19, 2010, 01:43:45 PM
Really did not think I would do this BUT I did an it said my order was excepted. Hit the button at 0 second's an it went right thru? Wonder what # I got of the FIRST 75 released by Crosman? They said they would be serialed in order of buyer an thus be so numbered. Sure would be COOL too have number ONE. Now I need to get a pump an a SCUBA adapter, have 2 tank's on the way from GA. already.

Congrats and good luck. It looks like an interesting piece.
Title: Me too...

It was a hair-raising experience, since you were never really sure whether you had gotten one or not... it went to an order summary screen for printing but you didn't get an order number.

This was all the worse because I was on a business teleconference at the time, surreptitiously entering the order. I let an expletive out at one point, but fortunately I had muted the phone.

But now I have a confirmation... I just never learn. All up to UPS now. This was almost an exact repeat of my experience with the rifle.

Also Chuck in Crosman customer service (peace be upon him) is a prince, one of the reasons why people like Crosman.

GREAT DAVE!!!! At least two of us GTA's got one of the first 75 ever released. I had the same thing as you, then got an E-mail saying it's a done deal!!! I need to call Ms. Kim an see if she can give me my #. Also if I may, what does everyone think on their pump($199) or is there a better one out there? I want the pump so that IF time's go bad I will alway's have away to charge it.

I don't know if they can tell you the number yet. I think they must have gotten a lot of calls over this issue!

I will be using my 4500 cf tank from Joe Brancato, which I bought when I got the Marauder rifle. Most everyone who knows, seems to prefer the Hill pumps. The pumping just didn't appeal to me.

Thank's Dave, I have two(maybe more) tank's coming up from my buddy in Ga.(he is a Dive Master) an plan on using them all the time I just wanted the hand pump for a way to ALWAY's be able to charge these gun's in case of emergency/"blank" hitting the fan. Where would be a good place to look for the Hill pump?

my guess is #1 didn't make it to the public.

WOW just got an e-mail from Crosman saying they have already shipped my new toy out? Now that is FAST service from them, order at noon an shipped already by night fall. You have to give Crosman their due's on that.

Yup, just got one too. Hot dog!

Now we have to start thinking about optics and mounts for it. These first ones are coming without the red dot shown in the pictures.

Somewhere around here I have a couple of long eye relief pistol scopes- I know there is an NC Star, and I think a BSA. Then there is the shoulder stock setup, with which we could use a regular rifle scope. I guess I expect to be shooting more in pistol mode, than as a carbine.

I have never used a red dot. I was thinking about getting one anyway, but I think this pistol will outshoot a red dot, so I was thinking more about traditional crosshair optics for the Marauder.

Looks like diopters are out of the question, with the shroud.

What's your plan, Jay?

Cool Dave, they were fast on getting them out the door, mine will be here Tuesday afternoon(just checked it's location) shipped at 10pm last night. I still hope we both get a low # gun out of this(finger's crossed for us). LOL I'm doing the same thing on what to do for sighting?? Even like you I have been kicking around way's to place a front sight on the shroud an going Diopter some how? I don't really see it being to BIG of a problem to make some thing up for it an then add a William's rear sight an we would have both way's for the pistol/carbine? But I "think" I will start with a pistol scope set up at first. I don't want to pull one off of my PB pistol's but I'm lucky an have a gun show going on this weekend(going tomorrow bright an early) an will pick a new one up(kind of worried what mount height to use too clear that mag?). An if I may ask Dave,I think from what I've read so far on our pistol's the filler valve is the same as the Disco not the Marauder? Do you know on this?

Congratullations to the both of you on your new purchases. Lookikng forward to two good reviews and pictures...:) Guess Jay and Dave both had to dig up some tin cans in back yard to finance them babies....:)

Have fun guys

LOL!!! Naw Mr.Gene no hidden can's in the yard(I wish). But I had let go of a couple of my Powder gun's to a good friend of mine an I thought I deserved a little treat for letting them go. But I'll say "just" getting into PCP gun's is sure costing me out the yin yang!!!

Gene, thanks! I have been waiting for this one for a long time. I was actually thinking about a small sell-off... but I really just can't do it. I never sell anything. I will just need to eat less. Kinda kills the rest of the year for new toys but oh well.

Jay- first, I noticed the pistola manual is not online yet. I am going to call Crosman Monday to see if an advance copy is available electronically (and if so, I will definitely share). Second, I read it is the same fill fitting as Disco, but I don't have a Disco  >:( so I can't compare to Marauder. But it would be a darned handy thing to learn before it gets here!!!

It is cold and rainy here so I am headed to the garage to check out my nitro piston crown, and dig around for lost pistol scopes. I am headed back up to Mac1 next week sometime when we visit the inlaws for Thanksgiving, and I will definitely have questions for Tim on this one!

Thank's John for the answer on that, I was just about to tell Dave that I looked it up an they are the same filler set up on both gun's(can you tell I'm new to PCP's LOL). WOW a 4oz trigger on the one you got to shoot, that is a bench rest setting to me. I would not even want one that light for my intended use of this pistol, but from "what" Crosman say's it can be taken down to a crisp 1.8lb pull which is about perfect for my use with it. As too the price($430.20 shipped) I have to wonder myself about that, but maybe they will go down as they become more available to the main market in time? But hey I would of spent just as much for about any target pistol that is as accurate as this one is "supposed" to be(time will tell?) an we do have the cool factor of having the first one's out here, at least that is how I justified ordering ;) ;D.

I have several airsoft guns - P90, Knights M4 SR-16, MP5-J, M87SA shotgun, Military type Aug, German G36 and a UMG 45  all of my airsoft have suppressors and my wife will no longer allow me and my boys to play inside the house - too many holes in the lamp shades and walls. Let us know how your new gun works out for you.

LOL I have shot a few hole's in the house with them(they are stronger than most people think). The boy's an me use too play with them so much you could reload just from them laying on the ground. Picked up new mount's(High an Medium) plus a 3x7 pistol scope yesterday for new pistola, it should be here tomorrow sometime!! I know I will have nose print's all over on the front window looking for the brown truck LOL.

As for the camera shot's Bro. sadly the best I can "maybe" do is pic.'s with my phone as I do not have a decent camera. OUCH!!!! JEEZ maybe I should just go sit on the porch before I break my nose!?!

Title: Re: Just Ordered the Marauder Pistol!!! Wonder what # I got???
Post by: Jay on November 23, 2010, 08:36:58 PM
LOL!!! Nope Paul here I am!!! The gun JUST arrived at 6:50PM, an I'm done unpacking it an looking it over(even went outside an shot a pellet at the phone pole), I'd like to say I got #1 BUT I knew that was out because on "another" forum someone had already claimed that number, but I did end up with #51 out of the first 75. LOL An I HIT the button at exactly 0 count so I'd say the line on Crosman that they all sold in the first 30 minute's was a slight fib, more like 3 second's I'd say, if even that long!?! O.K. so here goes on first impression. Trigger is sweet out of the box but I know me an I WILL play with it some, fit an finish is very good on the pistol part's, I would say that for the money they could of made nice wood grip's an splinter forearm for the pistol but the black fiber stock's are fit very well an will function well till someone start's makeing custom one's(I think wood will set this gun off nice). So over all I think the pistol will be a very nice addition to my collection an get me hooked on the PCP game. I promise to get pic's up just as soon as I can for you all too see but NOW it's time to go to the gun room an clean, mount scope an make sure all is tight an ready for tomorrow's day of shooting it. Will keep the GTA up on it as the gun get's it's start!!!! ;) 8)

You know I want those photos so I won't bug ya. Any impressions you care to share will be eagerly followed here on the left coast.

I am pretty sure you got a lower serial than I will... I will be happy with #75 if that's what it is. I figure by the time they made yours, they were starting to get good at it...  ;D  ;D

Thank's guy's for the interest in the pistol. I guess I'll continue the posting on this gate if the MOD's have no problem's with it(or maybe they would prefer it over in the darkside?) Pistol look's even better with alittle cleaning an the scope mounted, could of possible used med. height mount's but went with the Millett adjustable high one's which gave about 1/4" or slightly more clearance for the mag(I'd say the med. will be very close setting). The barrel was "very" clean for a new gun, two passes with #9 an 4 patch's an they came out clean. As the gun came charged to 1200 psi(Gary is going to stop tomorrow an charge it up for me till my pump come's in) I could not help myself up in the gun room but to load the mag an pop a couple into a ballistic soft body plate out of my gear from about 18ft away, even at that charge the 14.3 pellet's where completely flat on impact an I mean "pancake flat", the trigger does have a tiny bit more first stage than I like but that is an easy fix, second stage(break) is about 2lb from my guess an I have alot of pistol's set at 2 so I'd say I'm close with my guess,I'll set the trigger over travel when I have more time but from what I felt it is set pretty close so Crosman's tech's really worked these first one's over very well before releasing them to us. The grip's an forearm are the only thing I see still that they could of done better on as they really are just plastic(high grade but still plastic) I really think they should be wood at the price of the gun, Oh an I did find a slight bit of casting divot's in the front of the grip frame that I did not notice on first inspection(yeah I'm a perfectionist when it come's to gun's). Well I've bent your all's ear's enough till I get some shooting in with her an some pic's to show ya....Jay

Regarding the scope mount height, thanks for the observations on magazine clearance. What about the bolt? Does your scope overhang the bolt, and how much would it clear if you did?

Nice write up on the trigger, I think I can live with that setup for starters!

How is weight and balance for a one-hand stance? I don't think this pistol is made for real 10m competition, but I can't help wondering...

Dave my scope is the 3x7 32mm Ncstar,I think you said something about using one? Wanted a better one but it being near Christmas the picking's were slim at the show as most were gone on Sunday, but it hang's about 3" back behind the gun an does not interfer with the bolt at all even with it still on the right side(I will sometime soon change it to left hand side). An yes I think Crosman has a winner with this new trigger as it is very nice straight from the box. The balance is surprisingly good on these gun's but I would say with a one hand stance you might get a little side to side dance just from the length of them an the bulk of the air tube as it does have a slight forward weight but you might have stronger wrist's than me an find it no problem.
Title: Re: Just Ordered the Marauder Pistol!!! Wonder what # I got???
Post by: daveshoot on November 24, 2010, 11:58:20 AM
My NC is just the little long eye relief pistol scope, like a 1.5x fixed.

I was also thinking that I would want the bolt on the left, being a right hand shooter it seems like a better setup on a pistola.

Post by: Jay on November 24, 2010, 06:18:16 PM
Dave just wanted to add that after you asked about the bolt an scope I went an checked again for you, the bolt lift on the pistol's only turn's up to straight out from the side then back to cock so there is no way for the scope to interfer with it.

That's an easy one to answer Gary IT BITE'S BIG TIME, not bad till you reach the 2,200 mark then after that it take ALL of my 200+ lb's to push the last 3" of compression stroke down an into the gun!?! I do have it now up at 2,800 psi an the sky's have cleared off SO I'm off to sight her in today!!! An Bro. Gary I THANK YOU FOR THE USE OF YOUR PUMP, an for coming an charging my pistol with your tank, I "hope" my pump show's up today (come on brown truck).

Thats what I think to Jay, but I am at a slightly larger handicap at 140 lbs.  I almost bought a B-51 when they first came out. Glad crosman came to the rescue with the Disco. No problem with coming to your home and filling your pistol, I wanted to see one anyway and on top of that the wives got to meet, just may take some of the heat off us. LOL.

O.K. got done sighting in my pistol!!!! Wish I could put up pic's :( but remembered I canceled my web on phone an no digital camera yet(Hey Santa),but I'm glad I got this pistol as it adjusted right in an with no break-in it tore the 10 ring out of the standard GTA target at 20yd's from a standing position, tri-pod rest!!! 8 shot's one ragged hole TWICE!!! It was 32 degree's out with a slight cross wind today, the gun started at 2,800 psi an in 32 shot's dropped down to 2,000psi an by then my hand's had enough of the cold that I did not even consider trying to pump it back up an continue any longer. I have held onto the target an if my son on above post ever get's his butt down this way I will have him post it up for you all.
P.S. I'll add if anyone want's a excellent target/hunting pistol I have NO problem saying be ready in December an jump on the next 25 they are going to release. You will have one of the first 100 out(collectable?) an a great gun to boot. NOW I'm LOST to the Dark Side 8).

Good info! Did you notice a big drop in velocity before 2000psi?

Did not have a chrony running detox, shoot lucky I even went out in the cold LOL, but I wanted more distance than the basement 10yd's allow's(rest of winter will be indoor shooting). But yes I would say that the last 8 shot's started heading lower an I had to hold "just" a little higher for the last 4 as #3 shot did just break the 10 ring an they where stringed in the bull instead of a nice cluster. I'd say the man who did the write up for Crosman has it right the sweet spot seem's to be between 2800 an 2400 psi, just from my very limited shooting of the pistol(I only have like 45 shot's down it). I also would like to say it is a "very very" quite gun for such a short barrel an shroud(after the first 8 shot's?) I would put it in the same range as my Whisper as really you just hear the pellet impact the board with a small phiff on firing when in the open.
