Title: Crosman MK177 Unbox and Quick Review
Post by: squallywally on May 02, 2013, 01:12:16 PM
Mk177 arrived this morning. took a few pics as well as a few shots. This is what I think.

PLEASE NOTE,  I installed aftermarket sights, the Magpul mBus sights do not come with the MK177

I see this as a replica resembling 3 Firearms. Fn-Scar, Remington ACR, and the Magpul Masada.
I was not too excited about the color but it is more dark earth brown than tan or brown and I like it.
This gun also "feels" much more sturdy and stout than the M4-177. I attribute that to the M4s puny adjustable stock.
It came with the same removable sights as the M4-177 but I had a set of Magpul Mbus flip sights waiting.
The rubber butt pad is removable and reveals a very nice storage compartment that nicely holds a 4 pk of crosmans firepower pellet magazines and the sight tool.
The pump arm "feels" much better than the M4-177s because it is slightly narrower and shaped more rectangular. It still has an "amplified" pumping sound but that is definately due to the plastic nature of the gun.

I had the time to shoot 20 pellets through it this am. The first set went through the chrony.
Unfortunately the first 4 shots resulted in an error on the chrony.
So the official report is this:  Using RWS HOBBY 7.0g Pellets. 5 shots. 10 pumps.
High   606.3
Low 581.8
Avg  594.5
ES   24.49
SD   9.59
I did not shoot BBs.

I then shot two more groups of 5 RWS Hobby Pellets to sight it in.  SEE PIC.
I only have about 25 feet in my basement to shoot. so a little shy of 10 meters, sorry about that.
I was kneeling resting my elbow on the back of the couch.

The leftside bolt is something I will have to get use to since I have shot guns with right side bolts all my life but already I can see a routine forming.
its plastic but does feel much more sturdy than M4-177. There is no rattling when I shake it. The Fake magazine does not remove and I think this adds to the stiffness of the entire gun.
I am impressed thus far. Just look at those groups.

10 pumps, as you can see thats no "up to 750 fps"
