I can't wait to get! ;D I've had my HW80k detuned for a good while now so its time to take this mild mannered reporter and turn him back into Super Man!!!!!!!!!!!! This has been an awesome rifle for me since I've had it sunnen honed and the barrel chopped! it'll shoot 1 hole at 30yds all day long! but I'm needin more power!!!! she shoots 730ish with 14.3's at the moment so I'm hope'in to to push it back into the 800+ range again with this kit HA HA!!!!! :P

Mark,
What spring/kit did you use to detune your HW80? I have an R1 that I would like to detune, and ~16 ft-lbs. would just about fit the bill.
-
I used a JM spring and made a guide and spacing for it myself! :P

Do you recall which spring, or the at least the dimensions (coil count, ID, OD, wire diameter)?
-
I believe its his current spring for his power kit! I don't remember for sure but when I open it up to put in the new kit I'll post the dimensions of the old spring, I bought the spring a few yrs ago so I don't remember what it is! LOL!!! sorry about that I'm getting old Ha Ha! ;D :P
-
Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to measure the spring after the swap. As far as forgetting things, if I didn't use the notify option on the forum I would forget I had even asked a question! :)
-
LOL!!! I understand! :P
-
AZ, the spring I've pulled out of the 80 looks to be his GRT R1/80 spring I have the same measurements as what's listed on JM's site!
the new kit is suppose to be here today! wait'in on the mail man LOL!!! ;D :P
-
Oh man the wait for the parts! That the worst part of any tune or build. Can't wait to read about the results.
-
well I finally got this kit installed and I'll say it's very smooth and quiet! all I hear is a pong! I chronied the gun after about 50 shots and I had some erratic velocity's that I didn't like so I pulled the factory piston seal that I used that had been in the rifle and fitted a JM seal to the tube and at first it had a perfect seal dropped under its own weight and stopped when I plugged the transfer port, and built pressure when I pushed the piston into the tube and popped back up under pressure just like it should have but when I shot the rifle it had no velocity 650fps >:( after the first seal was shooting 821 to 855fps :D but I decided to use another factory and I'm going to let it break in on it own ;D its a little snug but the #'s are coming up nicely! 8) :P
-
alright I'm finally getting the 20ftlbs I was looking for out of this new kit! I've been thru 3 different piston seals and I used a Vac seal form VT and it instantly 802fps once I got it fit correctly I'm very happy with this set up in this rifle! :P

Saw your secret in the background to a buttery soft gun!LOL

-
Ha Ha!! the country crock! you got me OC my secret is out LOL!!!!!! ;D :P
-
What spacing did you use to achieve the soft tune with the GRT spring?
-
I made a steel top hat that was about 3/8 to 1/2'' ;D :P
-
Great tuning there Mark! One of these days I will do my 97K.
