Hi folks, I am new here and also to airguns. Had 'em as a kid but that was many moons ago. I had a question as a 2 part inquiry on the general airgun gate but got no answers to the second question so I am re-asking on the crosman specific forum. I recieved a model 1377 after my dad died. It is the older one with a sliding cover over the load port instead of a bolt action. Most of the mods I read about involve changing the breech but a friend says he doesn't think I can with this model. Can anyone tell me for sure what I can or can't do with this? Am I better off leaving it stock and buy a current one to start "playing" around on? Thanks for any answers you can provide.

I have not tried it myself, but I likely will be soon. My father still has a old model probably like your own fathers. He likes the steel bolt on mine.
I am assuming that it will fit just fine, BUT it will not cock the gun by simply mounting as its set up to cock by pulling the knob at the tang. It should work to load the chamber just fine and provide a solid mount for optics. I would think the hammer would need modification as well as the tube altered. again I have not had them both apart side by side to see this.
