Title: I jumped in head first.
Post by: oakey on March 17, 2013, 12:48:35 PM
Folks I just pulled the trigger and purchased my first PCP in .25 cal with Hilpump. There was a 10% off sale at PA with free shipping for Irish Day being I got some Mick in my blood I must celebrate.

After much pressure from the King of Evanix Manny the Bullpup Pirate I bought a WindyCity ll.

Congrats and good luck with it. A .25 should have some serious knock down power. I got the same e-mail from Pyramyd Air for this one day sale. Very tempting, lol.

I'm thinking about it too.  Beauty of Pyarmid air if you hate you have 30 days. I was thinking about 9mm or 25.

Mike if she is too loud she is going out for a tune. She may go out for a tune anyhow to get her numbers up and trigger smoothed.

When I finally looked into the water from the cliff above and jumped, it was the Rainstorm ll I ordered with a 10% discount and a Hilpump. Then I thought what did I do? I went back onto the PA website and headed straight to the Windy City ll knowing I was cancelling the Rainstorm ll order which i did this morning but before leaving their website I purchased the Windy City ll. The Rainstorm was back ordered anyway and who knows how long it would have taken. I spoke with PA today and everything is squared away. Thought it might have shipped today but I have not received any confirmation yet.

Excited and as usual impatient.

Will squirrel. I do wish she had a power knob like an FX to dial her down for practice plinking. Gonna have to build up my back stop which has already been shredded from my .22 springers. Not certain what to use had plexiglass between ply but plexy is shredded from shootin in the cold it shattered.

Definitely oaks , If it is okay with you I would like to shoot your pcp ? When weather gets a little warmer we can get together and do some shooting . We can work something out to where it would be convenient for both to travel . Maybe we can get a few others we know on this site to also go and meet up and do some shooting . This way we can have a variety of awesome pcp rifles to shoot and try out  . It would be a great opportunity for us and others to try a variety of pcp guns ! Maybe we can make something of this . Like a first annual shoot ?

Definitely , maybe a new post asking GTA members who live around NY,CT who would be interested in getting together to do some shooting and to try other types of pcp guns ?

I'm sure we can find an outdoor or indoor range somewhere between you and I . I have 3 indoor ones near me and a good handful outdoor ones . Whatever date we can agree on we can use the Internet to search for a shooting range somewhere between where I live "Thomaston CT" and you . Driving doesn't bother me as long as I'm driving a fair amount of distance between us . Even if I have to get a one nit hotel it would be worh the ride and stay to experience shooting a variety of pcp guns . I may never get that opportunity to do that . I do not have gun shops in ct that carry pcp guns so I can not physically see them or try them . I can only go by what I read and view online about these airguns . We can even open this up to all types of airguns not just pcp guns ? What do you think ? Anyone can chime in for some feed back

A short while ago I posted a thread asking about airgun shows in Central NY.  No hits.  :(   I don't see any activity in the NY, CT, or MA State Shooting events threads, either.   I was interested in holding/shooting a bull-puped Mrod, or any bullpup pcp.  The GTA event in May, in SC, does look like fun.   It is probably just a bit too far, for that time of year, for me.  :(

well hopefully something will come out of this ! you have to start somewhere and if we get 4 shooters or 40 shooters it is a start and i still would interested in going to the shoot ! in our area we do not promote activities such as having airgun shoots and it needs to be addressed some how . even if we know someone that is not a GTA  member but live around where we live and they own some sort of airgun we can bring them as a friend who is interested in airgun shoots . i do know where i live there is this place called hogans paintball and he told me he has people constantly comming in filling there pcp tanks. so i think that is another source to advertise a shoot for pcp airguns or airguns . it can be done we just need to be aggressive in careing out on  this event . fuzzygrub how far do you live near NYC ? one hour ? two hour ? fuzzygrub, do you have a place where you go and fill your pcp air gun or do you fill your own ? if you do go somewhere to fill your pcp i am sure that there are other pcp gun owners that go there so that would be a good place to advertise for a pcp or air gun shooting event .

I'm 3.5 hours away from NYC, and most of the time, it took more than 4 hours to reach the otherside.  Daughter graduated from Hofstra.  I like LI, but don't like what I have to drive thru to get there!  ;)

I currently have hand pumps, put will probably end up with tanks, down the road.  There is a dive shop that will do SCUBA or the CF 4500 psi fills, about 20 miles away.  From phone conversations, it doesn't sound like they do many pcps.

I think there are some shooting events in the Hudson Valley.  Just haven't found the club, or additional info yet.  I have seen the Crosman Pro Trailer on RT 17 coming back from the NYC direction (last fall).

Under the CT Events, there is an old post about a show in CT.  Contact Kevin, he sells refurb Mrods and Discos.  I'd bet he knows someone or a club you can hook up with.

Great points Rob we can keep putting it out there and maybe even get old Fuzzy out here to boot. Fuzz I own a home about five minutes from Hofstra. My primary residence is further out East less people out this way. We would be happy to have you fuzz.

Good to hear about setting up a meeting: I am IN!!
Cobra airguns used to have an open field where bunch of airguners were shooting, plus free refill from scuba...but they are out of business! It's killing me, I was getting AG  from them.
P.S: Also, it will be impossible to have a long shooting session with a hand pump(specially in the summer),lol

Oakey,  that's an expensive one. check your local dive shops. I will get a tank if we have to meet , pumping makes a good warm up.
