Haven't heard a report in a while, would like to know how he is doing
Title: Re: Shadow
Post by: thekid on March 13, 2013, 07:00:57 PM
I asked this question in the back room.
It was said he was returned to the hospital, few weeks back, with a clot that formed, where the tumor was removed.
I have not heard any updates, but from the post Mustangmike made, he is no longer tuning.
I hope he will some day be back on the forum, but most likely he is under a watchful eye and not permitted to hunt as of right now.
I hope for the best for him and his family.

He is not even allowed to hunt via doctors orders. Extreme migraine type headaches from the blood clot keep pretty much down and out. He is on a list of blood thinners that will not permeit him to even work on air guns. One cut and he could bleed to death. He cant drive either.

Hi everyone. Mustangmike made a suggestion about those of us who can afford to, to pass on a few dollars to Ed and family. He is not able to work and I am sure his medical bills are tough. His wife works but she does not make much. Their main income came from Ed and his tuning business. He literally put meat on the table via his love for hunting small game. Times are tough on all of us but just a few dollars from members that cared would probably really help them right now.

I am suggestion a small PayPal donation and possibly a note with it for a quick recover and that we are thinking about him. I do not know his PayPal account email but if someone who has dealt wit him could make a post with his PayPal account I will add it here also.

Eds PayPal Addy: vicdav3@aim.com (vicdav3@aim.com)

Thanks
Gene

bump, to bring this to the top and hopefully someone has his paypal address.

I would gladly make a donation to him and his wife. I know tough times too... and in my times of need, I've had some hands extended to help me out. I'd like to pay that forward, especially to a man that REALLY NEEDS it.
I have learned from solid sources, (who shall remain nameless), that this man and his wife REALLY DOES Need some help.

Please,.... Someone here must know how to send him some cash to help him out. It doesn't have to be a public, or "forum posted" donation.  It's probably better if it isn't anyway. no one is Obligated, and no one will be judged as to whether they can or can't help him out.
It does not need to be something like "I just sent him $ bla, bla, bla". It does not need to be posted who may or may not have contributed. again,.. It's probably better to NOT make a post like that here in this thread, or anywhere else for that matter.

So if anyone here has his info.,.... Please post it up for those members who may want to help.

Quick Shadow story. Got lucky enough to get to know Ed in the last few months. Couple of repairs, couple of tunes. What started out as strictly business turned into a friendship. Every time a phone call was necessary, mostly cause I have no clue what I want or need, the conversations we had were priceless! Each call lasted at least 45 mins. Feel like I've known him all my life. Awesome dude.
To say I got what I paid for is a complete understatement!! He always made sure I got extra.....so I made sure he did also.
Will be hitting up pay pal.........gladly.
Get well Ed. Prayers with you and Vicky.

Since Ed was not returning phone calls and did not respond to my many emails, I looked up his address. I asked a big favor of Douglas (PakProtector). I asked if he would make a drive to get a status in person. This was a few months back. He found Ed and they had a chat. He is still recovering from the medical issues including a brain tumor. Maybe Douglas will fill in the gaps of the meeting.
I want to THANK Douglas again for this very outstanding gesture and filling my request. I hope and pray brother Ed continues to improve and get back with his GTA family!!!

DEz,

If I remember correctly, I think it was Gene who had said that Shadow and his wife live a very humble life, on a very limited budget, and Ed's hunting was his main source of putting meat on his table.
I also seem to remember the GTA membership taking up a collection for him and his wife during these hard times.
I'm thinking it might be the right thing to do, if we were to do that again for them.
 What say you ?

Well Ron, you know my answer to that already. When it comes to helping folks out when I can, and ESPECIALLY someone in our GTA family, I'm in. If anyone else wishes to add to the gift to brother Ed, just click on the Donation tab above or send a donation as a "gift" to PayPal account lecurtis32@charter.net. In the note section of the payment PLEASE add that it is a donation to Shadow (Ed). That way I will have some means of keeping the donations separate from GTA operating fund donations.
Thanks Ron.

Dealing with the aftermath of brain surgery can be very difficult.  It is like no other surgery anywhere else on your body.  Sometimes you are just never exactly the same again.  It can affect one or more of your abilities to speak, think, walk, move, your moods, your drive, etc.  You may never fully recover.  Some people do after much therapy, but it can take a very long time.  My wife's best friend had a brain aneurysm that made her collapse and lose consciousness.  She had emergency brain surgery to correct it and get her out of danger.  It has been a few weeks and she still has memory loss and is just not the same overall.  Even her eating habits have changed as an example (she used to be into health foods but doesn't care for them any more).  Another friend of ours with MS had brain surgery to improve her condition.  They told her it was a 50/50 chance.  She has not been the same since, and has sunk deep into depression although she can get around a little better than before.  She doesn't want to get out of the house, drive, or do much of anything, when she used to love getting out and being outdoors.  Brain surgery can result in remarkable improvement for some, or on going struggle for others to get back to normal.

I pray for Ed's recovery and that he bounces back and joins us again in the near future.  We all miss his night hunting stories with his .177 spring guns.  There is only 1 person that knows how to stalk critters best, day or night, and that is Ed.

Harry
