I thought I`d write about my new HW30s , which is producing 7.5 ft/lbs with JSBs , but not in a very nice way, compared to my first HW30s (which I stoopidly sold!).
My old HW30s was doing around 6.3-6.5 ft/lbs ,wasn`t at all hold sensitive, getting it torn down and back together was a breeze as there was very little pre-load (also the power level seemed perfect according to reviews by Airgun Reporter and Airgunweb.com on the near identical Beeman R7 )
This new one had considerable pre-load and I needed help to get it back together, also when cocked, the coils of the sprng are so tight together that you couldn`t get a sheet of paper between them.To cure the slight hold sensitivity I`ve swapped off the little Hawke 4x32 ao scope and replaced it with a much heavier Nikko Stirling 3-9x42 ao I.R. and this has worked.Although I wanted to get a 6x32 bugbuster scope for this rifle ,like my original HW30s wore.......
Finally I have found out that TW Chambers (airgun spares) has 2 different main-springs listed for the HW30s; MS054 ;7.5 joules and MS081;U.K. Specification http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24561&cat=HW30S (http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=24561&cat=HW30S)
Have any of you had a similar experience?
