Title: LOOKING FOR INPUT???? BE#1 Aftermarket Breech for Marauder........
Post by: BALLISTIC1 on February 18, 2013, 11:32:02 PM
I was curious if anyone might have interest in an aftermarket breech for the Marauder?

The breech I have in mind would have an integral Weaver/Picatinny scope base or a combination Weaver/11mm base like my INTEGRABASE scope mounting bases for Benjamin/Sheridan 39X....

The most innovative feature that I have in mind would be a 'Straight Pull' bolt handle that would be on the side of the breech (something like a 10/22). The bolt handle would be considerably closer to the trigger than the factory bolt handle at the back of the breech. The straight pull bolt could be manufactured in a right or left hand configuration..

I would hope this breech could offer bigger bore capability..

I have considered trying to incorporate the straight pull bolt design into a factory Marauder breech that could also have a right or left hand configuration.

You input and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you members of the GTA Forum  for your interest and support. It is our goal to continue to introduce new and innovative products, parts, and accessories to the adult precision airgun community.... Greg

Indeed a limited market made more attractive IF IT PLACES BARREL HIGHER so an oversize shroud could be fitted on those rifles with after market barrels fitted being Much larger in diameter than factory barrel.

Still need 2 tho ... .177 & 22 share, .25 or Big bore another.

Get serious producing something ? love to help you iron out the final products details.

The straight pull bolt handle is of great intrest to me.  I have been kicking the idea around for a while but seem to come bak to the reciever not being meaty enough for the ideas I have.  The the idea of making the Marauder any heavier just turns me back to the thinking process.  The straight pull bolt would lend toward the Bull PUP configuration very well.

Sounds like an interesting project. The new Marauders coming out this summer will have a different breach screw location.

hey-Hey!!!,
There is a limit on how far you can take the barrel diameter, thanks to the two screws used to hold down the front of the breech. There is the aditional complication that the new ones will have two at the rear, instead of one in the middle( though it looks like the carry-over woody will retain the original configuration).

I am not the right guy to ask about the usefulness of a set of mods...I am a bit opinionated on how things ought to be done, and what can be lived with v. what has got to go...:)
cheers,
Douglas
