Title: Off-Season Air Rifle and Pistol Match Number 3 – RESULTS
Post by: Random Plinker on February 17, 2013, 10:53:58 PM
Spring fever is taking its toll on turnout.   A big welcome to Roy this round and congratulations to our medalists!

AP Gold goes to RP, followed by Roy and g2h with Silver and Bronze.  AR Gold goes to Cloud 9, with Silver (barely!) and Bronze going to RP and spero, with Kelrod not far behind.

Good shooting everyone.

===================================
Regular matches don't start up until April when winter is behind us.  Here's your chance to get in some off season indoor (or outdoor) shooting until then.  Shoot safe and have fun!

There are two matches in this post:  a 5 meter air pistol match and a 10 meter air rifle match.  Shoot one, shoot the other, or shoot both.  I'll change the title of this first post to “Results...” and add the scores up top when its over.

Rules for Both Matches:
Shoot as many times as you like before posting your results once.  You cannot change or supersede your posted scores after posting.  Post your scores and target image in one reply to this thread for each match, or scores and images for both matches in one reply - your choice, but do it by 21:00 EST (GMT-5) on the end date of the match.

Use a target with “45” in the file name if you are shooting 177 caliber pellets.  Use a target with “55” in the file name if you are shooting 0.20 or larger caliber pellets.

Shots are scored according to the highest value of the target scoring zone or ring that is touched by a circle centered over your shots on the target.  The diameter of this circle should be 4.5mm (0.177 inch) on "45" targets and 5.5mm (0.22 inch) on "55" targets.  The head of a wadcutter pellet comes in handy for this (the pellet skirt may be too large), as does a scoring gauge.  If any part of a scoring ring (demarcation line between the scoring zones) is touched by the circle, including even the outside edge of the scoring ring line, the shot is scored the higher value of the two scoring zones.  Note the 10 and "X" scoring zones are not labeled.  Exceptions to this scoring guidance are noted on the bottom of the targets with the ring diameters.  For example, an "X" is scored on most "55" targets only if the circle completely covers (i.e., removes) the center dot.  Rings are a little smaller and the "X" rule is different on "55" targets so that there is no advantage or disadvantage to using larger 22 caliber pellets.

Both matches are 20 shots.  You decide how many shots per bull.  If you need to use two or more target sheets, that is fine as long as they are shot consecutively as a potential intended match entry.

Targets shot before the match start date (the date of this post, not the latest edit date) are not permitted.  Please write the date shot on your target and post your target image and score using the following format (without descriptive labels) to make it easier for me to consistently summarize the final match results:

Match ("10M AR" or "5M AP")
Name
Weapon
Sight
Caliber and Pellet
Score
Other details to share (I may not summarize these in the results)

If you use a 12 bull target and the version you printed has a line border around the center two bulls, these bulls only are for unlimited sight in and practice shots.  SHOTS ON THESE TWO BULLS DO NOT COUNT FOR SCORE IF THEY ARE BORDERED.  If no bulls on the target you use are bordered, then all bulls and shots count for score.  Score the worst 20 shots on scoring bulls if they have more than 20 shots.

5 Meter Air Pistol Match Rules and Target

20 shots total.  Grip may be one or two handed.  Shooting position must be standing (seated if you cannot stand), with the pistol unsupported.  The shooter's feet must be behind or touching a line 5 meters from the target face.  5 meters is 16 feet and 5 inches.  Any pistol type or sight is allowed.  No special shooting clothing, shooting shoes, or equipment allowed.  Time limit is 20 minutes.

Let's just say its a good thing my QB had enough gas left after the weekend for a final third try tonight...  Decided to get a late start on New Year's weight lifting resolution last weekend.  Post lifting and steady hold just didn't mix!

Here's my first post here. Might try to post some scores for the rifle that I just got yesterday prior to the cutoff date.  Scores aren't great but I must have shot 200 plus rounds through the pistol trying to better my previous scores. Putting 20 decent shots together is a little tougher than I would have thought.  I think I scored things correctly but if you see any issues please let em know.  Thanks!

Sorry guys didn't make it this time. Side job taking up all my time. The good thing about it is I will end up with a new TX 200 HC out of it. Wife gets the rest of the money for her hobbies.

By the time the "official" season starts, it's going to be 180s to get on the podium!  Ha...  I'm finding mid 170s hard enough!

I was in the "ZONE" today.  Much better than my last match for some reason.  I did readjust my POI zero today; maybe that was it.

The ZONE is a great place to be!  It just feels right as you pull the trigger and complete your follow through.  Hey, runners have runner's high - we can have shooter's high, right?  You posted an inspirational off hand springer marksmanship effort Jeff.  I'm glad you shared it!
