What exactly are you talking about buying? Pellets, scopes, mounts or guns? As far as pellets, Pyramyd Air is hard to beat on their prices. Some people have had less than positive experiences with them (things being out of stock, wrong stuff delivered etc). My personal experience with them has all been positive, so far. There are a lot of airgun related retailers out there. So if you've had a bad experience with "blank", there are other willing to do business with you. When I shop the one thing I make sure to check (besides price) is shipping and handling. Some places seem to offer good prices, but subsidize their profits with higher S&H charges.

I have had very good luck with Pyramyd Air.
Prompt and just what the doctor ordered.

Mac1 can be very good on lead. I haven't checked pricing there lately, but he did have a nice inventory. He also had a lot of .20 in various flavors, for those so inclined.

A lot depends on what you are looking for. Sometimes it pays to do a little checking around. Those guys, and quite often the litle guys, are always coming up with deals and price changes. As competitive as they are, you can often run across some pretty decent deals or short term specials.

Doesn't Bart's original post belong in "Buyers, Seller's, Traders Comments"?  After all he refuses to name any names and by using "Blank" manages to cast doubts on virtually any of the on line sellers.  If he wanted to provoke on on line general discussion about various on line sellers and their quality of service, prices, selection, etc., he could have just said that was what he wanted.  AFAK he has not named a specific seller and thus he seems to cast dispersions on any and all!

What Charlie says is true.  You need to do a little looking around if you want the best "deal".  However, sometimes the best deal comes at a price.  The nice thing about PA is that you can find out if what you want it in stock.  The helped me with my RWS 350 to get the right scope, mounts, etc.  Otherwise I would have made some mistakes.

I've also found that the smaller dealers can sometimes help you out!  You can call them and work out a deal with them.  Sometimes they have "dead" stock.  They would rather have "some money" than "none money" if you know what I mean. :)

I usually buy my Pellets and stuff from PA, but the shipping takes forever so now, since I am in California I buy pellets from AOA, (AirgunsofArizona) and I get them in 3 days or less. I get my Optics from Natchez or Optics Planet.
Guns from Bestairguns or whoever has a good deal on what I am looking for. I have got 3 used guns from bestairguns for about 100 each and only one is a problem but it will be an easy fix.

Well Bart, at least we know who you mean!  I have had good luck with PA, never any damaged pellets but well packed (very well packed).  I am in PA, and their ground service to me is overnight via regular UPS ground.  Never had a reason for a return either.  Two different orders from another well known dealer took forever it seems.  3 months in one case and virtually no e-mail unless I prodded them for the status of my order.

Were the pellet tins damaged or just some of the contents (skirts)?  If the tins were OK perhaps the pellets were damaged in shipment from the producer to PA, but the damage was internal to the tins and not visible on the tin.

Sorry you had a bad experience with them, many of us have not.  But when you deal with someone else let us know that experience too.  We need to build up a database of experiences to help keep all the dealers accountable. I too want to hear what others think.

Dave
