Title: Pellet Holders ?????
Post by: picking_pellets.177_ on February 15, 2013, 12:11:15 AM
I do not think that I am alone on this subject I always seem to have trouble in the field with my break barrel air rifle I am always fumbling around for pellets. I made a pellet holder put of a rubber boot and I did not like it then I made one out of a little thing that I purchased from the gun shop for the stocks of riles to hold bullets ( it is supposed to strap around and has little pocket type things) and I punched .177 cal holes in it and I did not like it I was wondering if any one knew a type of pellet holder or ne that someone on here made that is small holds a couple to a lot of pellets and fits nicely in your hand and pocket.
Thanks,

Wilkins pellet pouches.  Beautifully made in the best English leather working tradition.  Finally treated myself to two.  Jen sells them on the Yellow.  They are not cheap but you absolutely get what you pay for.  Come in two sizes.

If you only need to hold a small amount of pellets, say a hunting day's worth, you can take a piece of foam rubber, cut some X's in it, then attach it to the stock or scope.  Stick the pellets in the X's and pluck them out when needed.

I saw where someone had used a piece of foam pipe insulation, the black ones that come about 5' long. They drilled holes to snug fit their pellets in it, then split it lengthwise and slipped it on their scope tube or barrel. Looked very handy.

I use a Tic-Tac box. The snap lid makes it easy to dispense a single pellet and closes tight enough to keep them from spilling in my pocket. I do rattle when I walk though. ;D

I bought a Crosman pellet pouch from Academy Sports.

Why not one of these...
http://www.sportsmans-depot.com/products/Phillips-Pellet-Holder%2C-.177%252d.20-Cal%2C-Holds-20-Rds%2C-.325%22-Thick.html (http://www.sportsmans-depot.com/products/Phillips-Pellet-Holder%2C-.177%252d.20-Cal%2C-Holds-20-Rds%2C-.325%22-Thick.html)

Can get one to wrap around the stock or scope or the wrist as you see here. Probably could make your own as well.

I very quickly got tired of rattle-y cans. They were fine for the back yard, but make a racket and are akward when you're out and about.

I like the look of the suggestions already posted, I didn't know some of that stuff existed. I do a lot of leatherwork, but did not go that route because I do a lot of shooting/hunting, etc in the bush in wet conditions. I ended up getting one of these:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-militaria-waterproof-waist-pack-waist-bag-tactical-bag-for-camping-hiking-/200798862908?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Backpacks&var=&hash=item2ec08b7e3c (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-militaria-waterproof-waist-pack-waist-bag-tactical-bag-for-camping-hiking-/200798862908?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Backpacks&var=&hash=item2ec08b7e3c)

Note that it is not actually waterproof, with that exposed zipper - but actually quite well made, easy and quiet to get into, and holds more pellets than you'd carry around at one time. I'm satisfied with the purchase.

I'm still use my Beeman pellet pouch - still like the way that the lid snaps open and snaps shut but if you hold it just right it will be silent when hunting. I have found similar pouches on either ebay or amazon.com.You say a "couple to a lot of pellets" - Have you considered a "pellet pen" - look it up on Pyramyd Air it will hold twenty .177 cal pellets and maybe it will work for you.

The pipe insulation foam was what I was trying to remember.  Inventor/airgunner  ;) reported that it worked well.  Me, I'm going to sashay around with my waxed leather Wilkins pouch.  Got to find a tweed shooting jacket now and maybe one of those hats with the little fur brush, too.  And Johdpurs with riding boots.  Must look the part to go with the fancy pouch now, eh, wot?  :D

One plus on the larger Wilkins pouch - works for rimfire ammo, too.

I've used a pellet holder made from the sponge rubber. It's like the stuff used on old mousepads.  I've also used the pipe insulation, and it also works well in the field.  I make them spaced to hold 6 & easy to pick out.

Don't forget the chaps with the back end cut out.    ;D

these are pretty handy for carrying in the field. and they dont rattle like a tin.

i also use one of these. crosman cphp tin with jsb foam from large .22 tins glued in top and bottom. totally quiet and secure. shake it all you want.

I used 1/4" black craft foam from a craft shop. It could be a little deeper but still works pretty well. I punched holes with a leather punch. I have a strip that holds ten pellets on the right of the stock just down from the scope and another strip that holds twenty on the outside butt of my Whisper. I attached them with silicone so that they could be removed or moved later. In a day of hunting I generally go through about fifteen pellets as I try to rest the spring every half hour to hour. I'll try to take some pictures later. I also carry a couple of tap plastics little containers which each hold about sixty pellets.

I use these on the right side of the stock, but I buy the pads w adhesive directly from the maker.  I don't like the hard, curved backing plate and velcro straps.
Here's a photo of my Trail NP with pad stuck directly to the stock.
I also use the same setup on my Big Cat and my Disco.
Works for me...

I used the foam from my wife's old yoga mat with a supply to last for years to come. You can pick them up cheap at Wally world or Target, of course different brands will vary in thickness. You can also buy it in different colors too so your rifle can "sashay" around with you like a proud peacock, lol  ;D

I made one out of 1/4" wet suit material. Punch holes in it, and tie a leather shoe lace thru it, and hang around your neck.

I agree that Lead Shed is sweet 8).

The guy that manufactures those pellet holders lives for a noble cause, we should support our airgun brother for those that have the means, click on the "about me" link, interesting stuff.
