Title: Help me pick a sling for my Crosman Titan
Post by: bradyman1 on November 09, 2010, 01:24:24 PM
Well I am looking for a sling for my Titan. I had it out hunting again this weekend and I think a sling could be very useful. What would you suggest? I have seen the Gamo gun buddy sling that slips on. How well does that do with the break barrels? I know that is what they are designed for but it seems like it would put some added stress on the pivot point?? I have also seen that some were complaining about them slipping off of smooth stocks. My Titan has a pretty smooth stock. Can I add rings on the stock or is that a bad idea? Suggestions please..

I had tried a shotgun sling before. It was an all around bad idea. It slips and can't be adjusted as easily. I would say mount a stud n the stock and look for a barrel mount swivel. That's the setup that I had on my b-26. I've also seen it done on Beemans and such.

I have a Gamo Gun Buddy Sling and I really like it. It does tend to slip a bit if you don't adjust a bit before re-shouldering the rifle, but I am very used to it. I also like the fact that I can put it on other rifles if I need to for the day. Not sure if you are looking for a more permanent solution though such as the stud and barrel mount swivel setup. But if you are looking for a quick and cheap sling I would recommend the Gamo sling. Here is a link:

I also have the Gamo Gun buddy and found cable velcro straps along the bottom help hold it in place. I know that sounds hard to visualize but I will try to get some pics and post them. It has leather at the barrel strap and SHOULD include leather on the stock strap but it doesn't hence the velcro straps to keep it in place.

Edit: Pictures included on my Gamo Hunter 890

Thanks for the help guys. You guys have suffered no ill effects from it being mounted to the barrel? I know that pivot joint can cause a lot of issues if it gets loose.. I guess there is not that much stress put on it because the strap is so close to the pivot point??

Jason, no issues so far but, again this is going to be hard to visualize, but if you look in my last picture, the loop is off to the side so the sling is coming out of the loop on the side leading to more torque from being on my shoulder being spread out from side to side instead of down and possibly causing the barrel to break open while walking. If I haven't confused you enough, I will have another chance, I'm sure! :)

I understand what you are saying Jonesin. I am leaning toward the Gamo sling. Thanks for the help.
