I finally got to pick up my Boar head from the taxidermist yesterday.
This is the 330 pound boar that I stalked and killed this past May after the Arkansas AirGun show. The boar was taken with my .458 Quackenbush using a 265 grain BHD wide flat nose bullet.

Very nice mount! I went out after LASSO in OK this year and shot a small pig, but didn't see anything like this bad boy. Congrats

Definitely one mean old boy if you fail to kill him outright.
Love those boar head mounts, especially with those tusks.

Thanks guys!!! It was a once in a life time kill for sure!
I had just bought the Quackenbush that weekend. On Friday I picked it up at the air gun show, Saturday I put the scope on and sighted it in and Sunday I shot the boar. How's that for a bigbore initiation?
The biggest thing is that this large hog was what the Arkansas Game and Fish needed as undeniable proof of what a bigbore air gun can do. They weren't interested in pictures of African airgun hunts or a buffalo taken with them. They wanted to see something local and there's nothing much tougher in the woods of Arkansas than a 330 pound wild boar. This hog made them take notice and agree that bigbore airguns were capable of taking large game animals.
Thanks again,
Todd

Outstanding mount and the hunt looked like a blast. Ed

Gotta have nerves of steel to go boar hunting with a "bb" gun.

or nerves of lead!! :D ::)
I normally stalk hogs with a bow and my number one rule is to keep a mental note every couple of yards of which tree I can climb.
I stalked this group and ended up getting withing 30 yards before not being able to move any further. I sat for over an hour while waiting for a bigger boar that looked to 400+ to come back around a small mound that they were laying around on. At times they were circling around me within 20 yards and never saw me.
I find it very enjoyable to be able to get that close and yes there is a level of danger involved, but like I said I make sure I know my surroundings at all times.

Excellent mount of the boar. And with a "BB" gun. ;D ;D We killed one that large by accident one evening. We had a cookout at the farm and the animal barged right in. .35 Remington ended his party crashing days. Don't know where he came from.
