It has come to my attention that our raffle donations have come to a stand still the last two months. December I can understand because of cost of Christmas. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/cool.gif)
The GTA is a not for profit forum and neither Bob nor I make a dime from it nor do any of our admins or moderators. It is all volunteer work. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/cool.gif) That said, the overall cost of the GTA operation for it's membership is not only time consuming but also a little expensive. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/sad.gif) The GTA pays it monthly server bills, programming and domain renewals not to mention other ongoing things we do to improve the overall operations of the GTA. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/wink.gif)
It is Bob and My hope that the GTA will go on long after we are gone. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/wink.gif) (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/wink.gif) This can be done only by members raffle participation and donations. Vendors as well as members give us an Air Gun related products every month free to raffle off. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/cool.gif) General donations are almost non-existent anymore from our membership and now we almost depend solely on the raffles to support the GTA. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/huh.gif) (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/huh.gif)
A couple of dollars donation is not allot and we do not expect those who are financially burdened to donate but a dollar a month or so can't be that hard to come up with for all the benefits of knowledge, learning and experience sharing as well as fun and that you receive here as a member of the GTA. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/grin.gif) (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/grin.gif)
As far as the raffle donations, $5.00 for raffle numbers is not so bad. Even if you do not need the item that is for raffle you could sell it if you win and get your money back. We hope we see more members making an effort to donate and support the GTA. (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/wink.gif) (http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/Smileys/akyhne/wink.gif)
So please keep in mind... the GTA forum is strictly self supporting by the our membership. We receive no financial support from any outside source including vendors other than our vendor raffle donations. ;) ;)

Well, I'll have to say we may have uncovered an issue we were unaware of. I send out announcements to every member. Those include the raffles and any other info that will benefit the members. I BELIEVE the announcement notifications and actually any forum email has not worked since we moved servers. THAT would explain why the raffles have been VERY slow the last couple of months. :)
We're checking this out and hope to have it fixed very soon!!!!

I'm more than happy to help support this site. :)
There is a wealth of information available here. On top of that, this is the most well run forum I've ever been on - that is no small feat! The administrators and moderators do an excellent job. Thanks to all of you for your time and efforts.
Now, I just need to come up with something worth sharing ... so I can get my post count up and participate in the raffles.

I'm glad the e-mail system is being looked at, as I had no idea there were any raffles! I will DEFINITELY contribute, as this forum is fantastic.

Didnt donate enough to enter the raffle...times are tough. Glad I helped out a little though.

It might be helpful if you posted expenses - what goes out versus what comes in - if it is not above our pay grade.

Well, it's kinda tough to do since we have fluctuating expenses. The monthly server space rental is steady until we grow enough and have to upgrade. And we have upgraded almost every year (thank goodness). Then we have programmer fees if we have to tweak anything or fix any issues. So it's not something we can chisel in stone. It sometimes fluctuates and sometimes all over the place.
